Interesting read. I thought MI would be higher but glad to see we are #48. Doesn't include pistols, but somewhat useful on the general trend, IMO.

What is a registered firearm in Michigan? There is not registration required unless it's full auto or some other weapon restricted under the NFA. There are a fuck of a lot more firearms in Michigan then 42,855. There are 650,000 deer hunters alone and they are not using sling shots. There are probably 42,000 weapons in Detroit alone, let alone the rest of the state. I bet it's closer to 5 million long guns in Michigan and another 3 million or so pistols.

The database the author used is for class III weapons, which are machine guns, short barreled rifles, etc. which require an extensive background check and a $200 tax stamp to own and which cost a minimum of $5K going up to around $25K and higher.

The AR-15 used in Orlando wouldn't be registered any more than the Winchester .22 that we used at Boy Scout camp. Pistols and revolvers aren't included. Shotguns for hunting aren't included.

The three most common forms of firearms ... Not included.

This article is very misleading. The list they are using is the list of registered class III weapons, such as machine guns and sawed off shotguns. Very expensive and very difficult to obtain, and almost impossible in some states. Yet, they just call them "guns."
