Rep. David Jolly Drops Out Of Florida Senate Race
He signaled Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) could run for re-election.
Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) has dropped out of Floridas Senate race, saying he will run for re-election instead.
Jollys move Friday comes after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said he was considering running for re-election after repeatedly saying previously he would not. Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, a friend of Rubios who is running for his seat, encouraged him to run in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting, according to Politico.
Jolly, who said he would step aside if Rubio ultimately ran for re-election, told CNN Friday that Rubio had changed his mind.
Marco is saying hes getting in, Jolly said.
A spokesman for Jolly later tried to clarify the comment, saying the congressman has no actual knowledge of a Rubio decision, according to Reuters news agenc

(17,064 posts)He had a good shot at winning the GOP primary, even against Rubio. I assume he's going to run for reelection to his congressional seat. His opponant is probably going to be Charlie Crist- former republican Governor.

(14,449 posts)Ugh! I thought we finally got rid of Rubio. I think we need to reassess who should be our candidate. I so wish it could be Pam Keith. I heard her speak and wow! I was so impressed. She would eat Rubio apiece. She really deserves our support. I wish she could get more traction. Not sure if we will gain the seat now. Can Grayson really beat Rubio?
