Arkansas judge resigns after thousands of photos of nude male defendants found on his computer

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/arkansas-judge-resigns-after-thousands-photos-nude-male-defendants-found-his-computer

An Arkansas judge accused of swapping sex for reduced sentences resigned Monday after a state commission said it discovered thousands of photographs from his computer that depicted nude male defendants.

In a letter to the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission, Cross County District Judge Joseph Boeckmann said that his resignation was effective immediately, and that he would never again seek a job as a local, county or state employee.

“They all depict young men, many naked who are in various poses inside the judge’s home and outside in his yard,” the letter states, adding that many of the men had received checks from the judge and had appeared before him as defendants. Boeckmann’s resignation came after the commission said in a May 5 letter to his lawyer that it was in the process of recovering as many as 4,500 photos.

“There are numerous photos of naked young men bending over after an apparent paddling,” the letter reads. “Please accept this as notice to not destroy (or) otherwise dispose of this paddle.”

Thank you, sir, may I have another? </sarc>

While the guy beat him and took pictures. If this was your daughter or son being treated like this would you be joking about it? They were probably told they'd be raped every day in prison if the judge sent them there.

I was raped when I was younger and then beaten severely and told I'd be killed if I told. Men don't talk about rape because people don't take it seriously and think it's funny to make jokes at their expense.

Teenage boys were raped, beaten and photographed to stay out of jail. They were probably told they would be raped over and over in jail. He took pictures to hold over them. They have not had a moments peace since knowing that this judge could send out hose pictures and ruin their lives.

As a kid I was raped, severely beaten and told I would be killed if I told. Men don't talk about being raped because then everyone makes jokes about it.

If it was your 17 son or daughter raped, beaten and photographed would it still be funny?

I think you just meant to joke but as a rape survivor there is no humor in this.

I was ten and was severely beaten after and told I would be killed if I told anyone.

I did not get off on being raped as your joke suggests and I'd bet every guy in those 4500 pictures who would do anything to,stay out of jail, was probably told he'd get much worse in jail. Let me rape you so everyone in jail doesn't. So I'd bet they didn't get off either.

Ha ha. Thanks for the joke.

Would you be joking about it? These men were probably told to submit or be sent to jail to raped over and over again. Most of them are probably 17-18-19, young.

Please take down your joke. As a rape victim it is sickening to read.

It is a disgusting abuse of the justice system and even sadder that some find the sexual abuse of men "funny." There is a time and a place for humor, even dark humor, but this is a gross miscarriage of justice filled with sexual abuse.

Even if there were some willing participants there's no question that this was coercion and abuse at all levels. What's unbelievable and tragic to me is that it went on for so long. It sounds like in most of the cases, given how many there were, the guy was a fetishist for spanking, and he'd find people desperate enough to go for it, and too embarrassed to accuse him of it. How do you go about accusing your judge of spanking you for a lesser sentence? And I bet they were even told that since they went for it they were acting illegally as well. Really ugly all around.

Hope this guy gets serious time and I hope a lot of his cases get thrown out now that we know he was a crony judge.

He probably picked little guys who knew they were vulnerable to prison rape. Probably all young.

He took pictures to shame them so for the rest of their lives and he would have that control over them--he left them with that hanging over their heads. That judge knew where the kid's parents lived or their girlfriends or wives.

Chortling about shit like this rather than treating it as a crime and a violation of the victims' dignity is what allows this sort of behavior to continue.

thank you. I spent the day discussing suicide prevention of young people... One kid showed me the scar where he slit his own throat. So it was a tough day seeing people who had been badly damaged in their youth...and this judge is exactly the kind of person creating that damage.

I just see his victims having so much pain over this--being raped to stay out of jail (and who knows what he threatened them with--most likely being raped daily in jail).

So I will see this as a conversation starter so positive things come out of it--

Rape culture isn't just limited to women. With the added stigma for men to even admit things... what's almost worse is that while the jury system seems to have worked as far as hides, not one was a 7-0 hide.

Not a single one.

5-2.
