Ohio Politics Now: A look at Donald Trump's and Hillary Clinton's ground game here
Want to know whats happening in Ohio government and politics from Columbus to Washington, D.C.? The Columbus Dispatch has you covered.
Trumps set up in Ohio: In yet another example of how the 2016 presidential campaign has become news of the weird, Donald Trump is now entrusting the Republican establishment he bashed for months to catch up to Hillary Clintons dominant ground game in Ohio and other key battleground states, Dispatch Public Affairs Editor Darrel Rowland writes. The leaders of Trumps so-far absent campaign in the Buckeye State are expected to be named within days. But at the personal request of the billionaire, the team is being formed by leaders of the Ohio Republican Party an organization that is at best less than enthusiastic about his candidacy.
Where Clintons at: The Clinton campaign has had a state director for more than a month, Cincinnati native Chris Wyant, who worked on Obamas two successful campaigns. A political director, communications director, digital director and press secretary also are on board the Clinton effort, headquartered in German Village, Rowland writes. Clinton chose Cleveland for her first visit as presumptive Democratic nominee last week and plans to hold her first major economic address at Fort Hayes in Columbus on Tuesday. Her campaign began airing two TV ads Thursday in Ohio and seven other swing states.
