Didn't work
Actually, can't imagine any of the Senate police would want to be the one to restrain and remove John Lewis. Unreal.

(23,525 posts)it is on cspan.org It's just being taped on someone's phone and going out on periscope. So it's a feed compared to the true cspan cameras. But, kudos to cspan to ignoring the direction of the gop when their cameras were turned off!

(19,348 posts)make an alliance with Hitler over Stalin. This is the American right. Pure facsist trash.
Churchill and DeGaulle understood you had to go with Stalin to take out Hitler, then deal with Stalin.

(34,438 posts)Gerrymandering, this completely immoral lack of respect for the American people would lead to the ouster of many of your members this fall.

(3,072 posts)Seems like a bad idea. But I doubt the Speaker of the House would listen to this passive observer. Probably just have to wait for this to bite him in the ass later.

(115,670 posts)The Speech or Debate Clause of the Constitution (Article I, Section 6, Clause 1) says that members of both Houses of Congress "shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their attendance at the Session of their Respective Houses, and in going to and from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."

(3,813 posts)Let's hope the Sergeant at Arms respects this provision of the Constitution.
I don't even agree with many of the gun control proposals being floated, but no way do I want see armed police arresting Democrats for engaging in spirited debate on this issue!
Ryan is a thin-skinned ass. This sort of thing happens in many Parliaments on a weekly basis. Ryan would not survive a day in Britain, or many other countries' legislatures.

the dems were just as much, if not MORE, at fault than the pugs and the media for not even allowing Carter to even attempt to institute his moderately progressive agenda.

then read what happened to his very first prospective nominee, former hard core cold warrior from the Kennedy admin, Ted Sorensen (for CIA director) at the same link. remember The Committee for the Present Danger, an amalgam of war mongering loons from both parties, devoted to the continuation of the MIC, and who saw Carter as anathema, with his intent on cooling down relations with the Soviets. Hence the infamously scurrilous Team B fiasco.
long slog, some overly tendentious writing, but part of a great book, Liberty Under Siege, by Walter Karp.
