Ye gawds...
Burger King, the restaurant chain backed by 3G Capital and Warren Buffett, will begin selling deep-fried sticks of macaroni and cheese encrusted in Cheetos-flavored breading, part of a trend toward blending fast food with well-known snack brands.

(11,357 posts)... they look like an absurdest parody of a fast food item.
I'd say they're a decent attempt at art, even though I wouldn't want to eat them.

(2,188 posts)Growing up in the 80's and 90's, I always had fast food.

(6,843 posts)And if you grew up in that culture, you did not eat that way. We had handmade sausages, salami, prosciutto, and cheese. The neighborhood bakery had Tuscan bread and semolina loaf. We all had gardens and cured our own olives and made homemade wine.
McDonald's was a very rare occasion. That was the Italian American culture of the 60s and 70 s

(2,188 posts)The "We" made me think you indicated all of us Italians lol. My bad. I had all that too as a Staten Island Guinzo, except for the handmade stuff. Our local pork store Cangiano's had all of our needs. Sunday was a very special day.
However, growing up in the 80's we had lots of fast food during the week, and always had soda with our meals. Looking back, I wish we hadn't.

(35,274 posts)Whether those little fried curds you get at some places or "Italian" fried mozzarella or Czech smazenny syr (fried Edam, mostly).
Couldn't bring myself to eat the fried macaroni and cheese. Junk food made into junkier food isn't my preference. I'll stick with the fried cheese. At best. (Or at worst. They mean the same thing here, I think.)
Can't bring myself to eat fried snickers, a Luther Burger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Burger), a fried Twinkie or anything like that. Not sure that this gastric nightmare is worse than those, but I'm not going to try any of them.
Arghh.

(4,959 posts)I keep seeing stuff about fried mac and cheese, and the comfort food junkie in me has been intrigued, but seeing this may have ruined any possibility of that craving for me.

(65,616 posts)I don't know what is worse, that BK is selling it or that it is cheetoes and krapf mac & cheese. Does it come with Blue Cheese Zesty Bacon & Ranch Thousand Island Jalapeno Cream Cheese dipping sauce? Cuz that is a deal breaker!
