Seems to me I've read here on these pages tens, nay dozens, nay hundreds of times most of the problems of the world today stem from American foreign policy and meddling in the affairs of other countries because we know what's right for them and all they need is a few bombs or a coup to give them that gentle push they need.
Untwist your undies my lovelies... the sun will come up in the East and set in the West tomorrow like it has for time immemorial no matter the outcome of today's vote.
Does every day need to have an event that signals the end of life as we know it or want it to be?
Ain't the end of the fucking world.

The more tuned in we are the better.

(851 posts)interference with wars and bad trade deals. EU was badly written, so is a failing experiment. There has to be a pact that allows countries to keep a healthy identity

(10,597 posts)... but for the past 35-40 yrs or so, we've been spiraling into this globalization thing. Remember, globalization started HERE, in the US. PO even went over there a couple months ago and meddled in UK's business by urging that UK remain in the EU. It may not be the end of the effing world, but it will be for many if our stock market goes belly up tomorrow.

(851 posts)lessons from past mistakes- too many scavengers in their pool, vampires and fundies, Yet I have to ask- why should Brexit effect our market at all, beyond the risk takers. Better to flush out the gamblers that tend to run the scams. The market has seen this coming for some time, time enough to prepare. The only harm is to EU, and the financials from England wont stop in trade, tourism and many other divisions of communication.
Maybe this turn-around will force wall street to invest in the US instead of other countries. Lord knows we need it.

(10,597 posts)... that's not going to happen any time soon, or ever. I wish we could get out of this casino capitalist system, and it may very well happen someday in the not too distant future. But this is where we are now. Anxious to see what happens tomorrow.

(587 posts)Do people suddenly think Wall Street is reflective of actual economic conditions on the ground instead of speculative trading based on people trying to one-up each other?
The UK isn't leaving the EU for a looooong time. Years. It ain't happening any time soon. And it ain't happening without a shit-crap-load of negotiation, thought, consideration, hard work and deals put in place.
The market will most likely be down a few percent, give or take. There is no economic crash coming. There... just isn't. Nothing has fundamentally changed. There has been no collapse of a false market (like 2008). There has been no war. No massive fraud or scandal. There hasn't even been a currency change.

Poor innocent Russia, Germany, France, England, Japan, etc. etc. etc. were just innocent bystanders.

(2,461 posts)I can appreciate a flip british humour twist. Really, I can. But it is a humour that relies on a dominance that could afford a supercilious grin. Saudi Arabia owns most of the good stuff now. But, there are those that like to replay their best teen age years.
