Couple gets off easy for killing a baby...

Oh, and they blame the ambulance EMT's for their baby dying.
Not their own stupidity.

Couple convicted of killing their child get sentenced

Canadians David and Collet Stephan, who were convicted of a criminal charge of "failing to provide the necessaries of life" to their 19-month son, Ezekiel, have been sentenced. [Bell D. David Stephan gets jail time, Collet Stephan gets house arrest in son's meningitis death CBC News, June 24, 2016]

David was ordered to serve four months in prison.
Collet was ordered to serve three months on house arrest and to post an unedited copy of the sentencing hearing to all Web and social media sites with which she is personally affiliated.
Both were ordered to complete 240 hours of community service.
The couple's three other children must see a medical doctor at least once a year and a public health nurse every three months.

Press reports indicate that Ezekiel died of bacterial meningitis while they treated him for 2½ weeks with hot peppers, garlic, onions, and horseradish and a product from a naturopath said to be aimed at boosting his immune system. [Alberta parents convicted in toddler's meningitis death. CBC News, April 26, 2016] Before the sentencing hearing, Collet urged her Facebook supporters to send handwritten letters to her lawyer “regarding Dave and myself’s parenting character, concern for our children losing us and how this verdict will affect your parental rights.” David is vice-president of Truehope Nutritional Support, a company that markets “natural remedies."

The parents willfully, repeatedly ignored calls for treatment and promoted their pseudo-scientific gibberish while their son died a horrible death, and have not only shown ZERO remorse, but blame everyone else while claiming they are being persecuted.

Glad I haven't eaten yet, because this makes me sick.

we hear they followed the directions of their holy book. Christians don't kill in the name of God and their holy book says its wrong. BS religion killed this child because the parents were following directions from the Bible.
RIP baby Ezekiel, may you finally know love.

with those who killed their child, is ugly. I searched for a better word, but sorry, that's what you did.

I have no sympathy for the anti-vaccine crowd. The public weal is too important. I do indeed criticize certain practices- and profit goals- of large pharmaceutical companies.

Those who criticize certain practices of large pharmaceutical companies contain a smaller subset of nutbags who use pseudoscience to promote batshit crazy conspiracy theories. Within that subset includes anti-vaxxers which even you couldn't care less about and these people exist right here on DU as I'm sure you know. So you are obviously conflating that group and the subset I'm obviously talking about. That's what you did. These people promote ideas which are dangerous which is demonstrated by the OP, and they just aren't that much different than some here.

They played the clip in court per a report by the CBC. He claims they were being persecuted by the Canadian government.

Yes, you are being persecuted because you denied your child proper medical treatment. He should know what actual persecution is. Because being prosecuted for letting your child for letting your child die is not persecution.

They were also profiting from their nutbaggery. The parents had a business selling snake oil.

Can we give the death penalty to all corporations that sell "miracle cures" and "natural remedy" bullshit? It's been proven time and time again that these products are complete and total bullshit. That kid should not have had to suffer because their parents bought into the bullshit. The company that makes the bullshit is one who's really at fault here.

But these assclowns at least are being forced to take their other children to doctors as part of their "punishment".

They've been shilling on FB for donations the last 6 months. They are disgusting.
