If Trump Was Behaving Exactly the Same But Winning In The Polls

Do you think people like Ryan, McConnell, and Rubio would be fawning over him? Is the establishment running and hiding from Trump because he is a terrible person and they can barely bring themselves to think about him or are they running and hiding because his poll numbers are in the shitter?

see Brexit, and the poll numbers, early as they are, are not as far in the 'shitter' as they might be.

Polls in the U.S. tend to be far more accurate than in the UK. Even so, the polls showed a close race between leave and remain in the Brexit vote. In addition, since 1932, only papa Bush came back from this far behind in late June to actually win. And two polls show Trump down by double digits (12 points and 13.3 points), and no polls seem to show him above 39%, so I would say, they are in the shitter.

7. But look at this:

by Robert Reich:'I’m mystified. Even after Trump said he couldn’t get a fair trial

from a judge of Mexican descent or from an American-Muslim judge, after he boasted that the Orlando massacre proved him correct on Muslims, even after he blamed Obama for the massacre – he’s trailing Hillary Clinton by just 5 points, according to the latest NBC/WSJ poll, released this morning.

Worse still: When the horserace is expanded to four candidates -- including Libertarian Gary Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein – Clinton’s lead drops to just 1 point (she gets support from 39 percent of voters, Trump gets 38 percent, Johnson 10 percent and Stein 6 percent). The polls margin of error is about 3 points, which means if the vote were held today, Donald Trump could be our next president.

Where are Trump's voters coming from? He maintains a significant edge among white voters (49 percent to 37 percent), men (48 percent to 38 percent) and independents (40 percent to 30 percent).

What do you think?'

I've read a few of his articles this year. He seems to be very pessimistic but I am not seeing much evidence for a reason why. Maybe he is right and we are all screwed but I think he has simply soured on the Clintons and that is fueling his opinion of the election.

Trump's basic message is mostly what Republicans have been preaching for decades, so they're not worried about him being a terrible person.

I doubt his poll numbers matter much, because there are Republicans who'd rather have a President Clinton than have Trump win.

At the end of the day, Trump's biggest crime in the eyes of the establishment is that the party leaders - and especially the big Republican donors pulling the strings in the background - have little to no control over Trump. He can finance himself and doesn't need their money and, therefore, doesn't need their approval.

The 'basic' message that R's espouse is coming out of his mouth now, but only since he's running for office - he's a New York centrist, not a Republican and they know it. The best they can say about him message-wise is that he's a puppet who will pretty much say anything to anyone to get a cheer from the crowd to stroke his ego - he believes very little of what comes out of his mouth. Unlike Cruz, who was at least a true believer (crazy and dangerous, but authentic).

Also, the idea that they can't control him because he can finance himself is an extreme stretch - if it were true he would be doing just that, and although he's said that he paying his own bills numerous times, he's not - 'cause he can't, he's just not that rich. Perot was a true loose canon who could most certainly self-finance, Trump is a huckster whose personal wealth is probably around $100 million and most of his assets are not liquid.

You may wish to rethink that. There is growing evidence he is cash poor - around $165M - and may well no longer be an actual billionaire.
