http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2016/jun/27/abortion-clinic-restrictions-hold-kansas/Wichita The U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down Texas strict regulations of abortion clinics is expected to affect the fate of similar state regulations currently on hold in a Kansas court.
Texas rules required abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and forced clinics to meet hospital-like standards for outpatient care.
Kansas lawmakers passed similar requirements in 2011, but that law has been temporarily blocked pending trial in a Shawnee County courtroom.

The Texas law resembles similar measures enacted in other states, including Ohio, North Carolina, Arizona, Kansas, Tennessee, Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Utah.

(2,586 posts)I suppose this might require new legislation which of course the GOP controlled House would never pass, but if the courts themselves were serious, those clinics that have been put out of business by such unconstitutional laws in recent years should be able to sue at least for compensatory damages so they can reopen.
The various laws that have been passed as the court system proceeded slowly (they are not so slow in pursuit of reactionary agendae -- those go like crap thru a goose) have done a lot of damage in many states. An honest judicial system would at least have an avenue readily available to make it right -- but that's not the kind of judicial system that we have

(12,151 posts)They played this game across the board, imposing requirements designed, almost proudly in bad-faith, to shutter clinics.
You know you have a bad argument when you have to lie about what you're doing to try to get what you want.
