I feel sorry for residents of Cleveland

I mean the Cavaliers just won the NBA Championship, beating some odds to do so, the baseball team is playing well, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located there and they have done a nice job of fixing up the once forlorn city. So why feel sorry for Clevelanders? The rnc is coming. Or more accurately, the trump train is coming. I think that would just depress the hell out of me if I lived there. Especially with all the skinheads and other assholes that will inhabit that fine American city for a week or so. Just hope nobody gets killed.

But I would want to have extra security for my home. No telling what chaos and violence the Republicans will unleash!

Stay away from the RNC and don't support any group going there to protest.

I overheard some people wearing trump gear at a minor league baseball game a couple of nights ago say they were taking "bus loads" of people to Cleveland. They said they had some kind of group of people in the Cleveland area who were offering up their homes and apartments so they had somewhere to stay. I walked away at that point, could not take any more.

Both of these guys looked like the kind of guys I would avoid on the street.

Some drunken fool fell off a bus during a pub crawl and got ran over.

. . . only it was prefaced by saying we'd LOSE the NBA Finals in heartbreaking fashion. OOOOOOPS.

. . . but yeah, I'm really not anticipating the rural and suburban Trumpenyokel MRA footshooters invading downtown. Our place of work is planning on having us offsite for our safety. Likely a smart move.

The Q is already nauseatingly decked out in White/Red/Blue banners welcoming delegates and representatives. That's what I'll be happy to see go after July so some championship accolades can be there instead.

into the new economy much better than some rust belt cities. Investment downtown has brought about a revival. Residents protested the Tamir Rice ruling without violence and destruction. We just had 1.3 million residents show up downtown for a parade celebrating the Cavs NBA championship without any major incidents. We are in NO MOOD for outsiders to show up and destroy that which we have worked so hard to build.

That is why they fought for it. Don't feel too sorry for them.

I caught the Vote for Change Tour there at Gund Arena with Springsteen, Fogerty, R.E.M., and Bright Eyes, all supporting John Kerry in '04.

I can tell you that whenever you have this large a group of these assholes in one city, it's not that easy for the residents to abide with all of the incoming assholery.

Detroit had an RNC in 1980. When they came here, they turned the city into a madhouse.
