Restoring the Everglades

Congress also approved a new water resources bill this week that will, among other things, allow the Army Corps of Engineers to begin work on a major $1.9 billion Everglades-restoration project. The Central Everglades Planning Project is a series of engineering projects designed to reduce the harmful discharges from Lake Okeechobee that caused massive algae blooms this summer.
