-- one reason why, at least. The further ahead Hillary is in the vote count, the more Senators and Congress members she is likely to drag into office in her wake. We need to win back the House and Senate. We need a landslide victory. We need to GET OUT THE VOTE !!!!!!!!!!!

a very tight race. It's all about electing a female POTUS, Trump is just a sideshow.

though it's unlikely for Dems to take back the House -- However, it is possible to make gains there too.

A lot of people vote straight ticket -- they (538 folks) know this from analyzing polling data. Also getting out the vote increases the number of Dem votes up and down the ticket. A few points greater lead for Hillary translates to more votes for down-ticket Dems on the same ballot, and that can translate to a majority in the Senate.

I disagree completely that it is all about electing a woman president. It is all about putting the country on the right path. America faces serious problems, and under Obama we have made serious progress that we need to maintain and build on. It makes no sense at all to vote based entirely on race or gender -- that's exactly what "they" do.

I would not vote -- would never have voted -- for Phyllis Schlafly for president nor indeed for any other office. Ditto Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. Ditto Ben Carson.
