Cops Starve Mentally Ill Citizen to Death as Punishment “for Being Offensive”

http://filmingcops.com/cops-starve-mentally-ill-citizen-death-punishment-offensive/

Settling a “stunning and unconscionable” case at Rikers Island Prison, a mother reached a $5.75 million deal with New York City over her mentally ill son’s death alone in his cell after he was starved of food, water and medical care for a week.

Almost exactly three years ago, schizophrenic and diabetic inmate Bradley Ballard was found dead in his cell, his naked body lying in his own vomit and feces, with a rubber band wrapped around his genitals.

Prison guards had locked Ballard up in a mental health unit for seven days without sustenance or medication to punish him for dancing in a way that offended a female officer, according to his mother’s lawsuit, filed one year after his death.

or faced charges. A human being was in their care and at their mercy. If a foster parent did that to a child, they'd be facing murder charges.

Rapists and child abusers are apparently too good to be forced to mix with their like.

Horrific. I can't imagine the state of mind of those guards who would think/act that with holding food and medication for a week was legitimate. It was murder. How can one confined (no means to find food/sustenance) live for seven days with out being provided with food? Sounds like institutional sanctioned murder. How could no one in the unit realize that this man had not been given food or medication for seven days?
