(34,131 posts)Every child I have contact with has far too many toys. I give books to my grand nephews (no grand nieces so far). The kids and the parents love it.The three nephews I have the most contact with learned to read early (both parents were teachers). At six one wanted books about belugas and when his grandfather didn't know how to spell it he typed it into grandpa's tablet so they could search for belugas together!
I try to buy books ahead of their calendar age by at least a year but with those boys I think I will have to push that to two or three years beyond their calendar ages!
