or even feel entitled to. Apologizing for bad behavior does not initiate a transaction, where the next move is the other person forgiving you, and now everything is hunky-dory. An apology is "offered;" there is no obligation to accept it.

Reminds me of little kids forced by mom to say "I'm sorry" for hitting a playmate, as if that changes anything.
