Woman jailed after admitting she made up horrific kidnapping, sex assault story

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A woman who made up a horrifying story of kidnapping, rape and assault – and later tried to implicate people in her fable – has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Leiha Ann-Sue Artman, 25, pleaded guilty to making a false report of a felony, which is punishable by up to four years in prison. Her status as a second offense habitual offender could have increased the penalty to up to six years.

Artman told authorities that four men abducted her from the driveway of her home on March 27, threw her in the trunk of their car before she was beaten and sexually assaulted at an unknown location, according to court documents.

The Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office did not offer any deal in exchange for Artman's plea, though Muskegon Circuit Judge Timothy Hicks agreed to not sentence Artman to prison, said Matt Roberts, the prosecutor's chief trial attorney.

Just my two cents, not meant in any way to be disrespectful:

I know that the text is copied from an article, I just think that putting someone's address up on the internet is not such a good idea, she could have innocent roomates/family, etc. I thought it was kind of strange to see a newspaper print someone's street address like that.

What she admitted to doing is absolutely horrible, but that is why we have law enforcement and the courts. Printing people's addresses can lead to vigilante violence.

No offense meant by my pointing this out.

.... anyway, what a horrible thing to do, especially if she is admitting to implicating innocent people. What a world we live in.

My local paper routinely includes the address of people arrested for shootings, drug offenses & the like.

I understand your concern about roommates, etc., but that would be true of any convicted criminal.

In my adult life (mid-40's) I have known three men and one woman who were falsely accused, none of them had the courtesy of a public exoneration. I think all four of them would like to be able to point at a published report that clears their name.

He's posted "new reports" like this a couple dozen times and just leaves them plopped in GD like a giant turd and never does discuss it as an issue. Is he trying to relate this to Trumps accusers? Are there any legislative initiatives he's proposing?

Or is the whole point to whine that women who accuse men if sexual abuse or rape very very rarely are lying?
What's the frigging point of this post?

Very seldom, but they do occur.

Just look at the McMartin preschool fiasco.
Kids made up wild stories about being molested, "Satanic rituals," tunnels and such.
They were egged on by adults with agendas.

I know a guy who made up a story about being robbed, he went to jail for making it up.

Don't you think women make things up too?
