Will the Trump Party supporters ever return to the Republican Party?

Most of them are part of the coalition that formed the original Tea Partiers back in 2009-2010. They were able to join the Republican Party, and with their success in making Obamacare a huge issue in the midterm elections, they were able to take over the House with a huge majority. They also won the Senate. They had vowed to block Obama at every turn and to make him a one-term President. They then had the numbers.

But, they had married their fortunes to the Tea Party, the most vocal and extreme supporters in the Republican Party. That was the moment they sealed their fate. The Republican Party and the Tea Party would have to go thru a very ugly and dirty divorce but the differences were irreconcilable. When their candidate for President, Donald Trump, defeated 16 other Republicans and became the de facto leader of the Republican Party, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell were still pretending that they were in charge. But, they were not.

If the Republican Party comes to its senses and votes for principle over party, the Republican Party may live to fight another day? But, it won't be easy.

Some of the more spineless ones cannot make up their minds where they want to stand? One day, they are endorsing the Tea Party candidate - the crude, vulgar populist - that is an alleged sex assaulter. They are passionate in their support. The next day, they are un-endorsing. They can't make up their minds.

But, will they return to the Republican Party once this election is over? Who knows? But I doubt it.

Your breitbarters & info warriors will go libertarian from here on out. Your dittoheads and fox news junkies will absolutely stay because they are the ones with no principles. They just blindly follow whatever am radio or fox tells them, regardless of what it told them yesterday. Over the next few cycles, however, the Libertarian party will continue to peel off voters from the GOP until we have three parties. If I'm right, and baby I'm always right , the future's so bright we'll have to wear shades.

The Republican Party is the party of Trump. They've always been the party of racists, bigots, homophobes, and misogynists but it's always been coded and dog whistled. Now it's all out in the open and we can see where our fellow Americans really stand.

The problem is, that it doesn't seem to be hurting the Republican party. We can all tsk tsk, and some segments of the media can point out the absurdity of it all, but it doesn't seem to be costing them with voters. At least based off of polls and what I see around me anecdotally.

It would be a disaster if these people were to win.

Now that they have been found out, the Republicans will be hard-pressed to keep them in the Party and maintain any principles, including their religious ones.

And yes they have overtaken the GOP. The GOP enjoyed the extra numbers to overtake Congress but it has also has given them Donald Trump as their nominee.
