I hate when perfectly useful words acquire a nasty meaning and can no longer be appropriately used without some sophomoric idiot smirking.
Case in point: A "pussy" used to be a perfectly appropriate word for a kitty.

(35,699 posts)I am quite serious about this. It is a pet peeve of mine when perfectly good words acquire such nasty meanings they can no longer be used.

(34,136 posts)The power went out and I didn't remember where any of my flashlights were. So I was wandering all over the house, groping in the dark, trying to find a light.
Of course, the "iffy" part was that I had just gotten out of the shower and was wandering around completely nude.

(34,136 posts)Nothing worse than losing power in the middle and not having enough water pressure left to rinse the soap off - that has happened before. Being on my own well can have it's disadvantages.

It'll probably be consigned to that vast dustbin of disused vocabulary. Along with "uvula".

(102,225 posts)That word should have been eliminated long ago, as it is not a recent acknowledgment of just how demeaning to women its use is.
And, I am a bit confused as to the context of using "grope" in daily conversation and thus why this is such a loss...
