The Pilippines leaving U.S. alliance, is a big deal

The billions of dollars given to them, could now be used for... say free college.

US military will move out.

American businesses will move out.

There is an alliance of Russia, China, Philippines, N. Korea. UGH.

A lot to watch unfolding here.

4. Philippines' Duterte says didn't really mean 'separation' from US

This guy is just like Trump, he's shoots his mouth off and then someone with a brain tells him what the consequences will be so he can stammer out some sort of mea culpa.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said on Friday he was not severing ties with his country's long-time ally the United States, but merely pursuing a more independent foreign policy by strengthening relations with China.

A day after he provoked fresh diplomatic alarm by announcing his "separation" from Washington, Duterte struck a more conciliatory tone as he arrived back in the Philippines after a four-day visit to Beijing.

"It is not severance of ties. When you say severance of ties, you cut diplomatic relations. I cannot do that," the Philippine leader told reporters at a midnight news conference in his southern home city of Davao.

"It's in the best interest of my countrymen to maintain that relationship.

And then he goes home afterwards to play the other side of the fence too. Shmuck, this one is.....

He opened a can a worms, though, that I don't think he should have done. The U.S. will warm up more to Vietnam....as evidenced by Obama's trip to VN this summer.

Philippines not really severing ties with US, Duterte says

http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/21/asia/duterte-china-philippines-us/index.html

(CNN)Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has clarified his comments that seemed to call for a split from the United States, saying he was advocating a "separation of foreign policy" rather than "a severance of ties."

Addressing a press conference in Davao City after his return from a state visit to China, Duterte said:
"It is not severance of ties. You say severance of ties, you cut the diplomatic relations. I cannot do that.
"Why? It is in the best interest of my country that we maintain that relationship. Why? Because there are many Filipinos in the United States. Well, Americans of Filipino ancestry.

"Why? Because the people of my country are not ready to accept. I said separation -- what I was really saying was separation of a foreign policy. "
There was widespread shock after Duterte announced his "separation" from the United States, suggesting he would cut both economic and military ties in favor of moving closer to China.
"America has lost now. I've realigned myself in your ideological flow," Duterte told business leaders Thursday in Beijing.
"And maybe I will also go to Russia to talk to Putin and tell him that there are three of us against the world: China, Philippines and Russia. It's the only way."
In a statement Friday, Duterte's office said the Philippines had no intention to renege on treaties or agreements with allies.

The whole article is interesting and sheds lights on that loonytune running the PI for those who haven't really focused on his batshit crazy, Trump-like ass.

He's the Trump of the PI. I think after his bloodthirty tendencies start affecting average citizens, they'll shift him in one way or another. He'd better order some ballistic clothing, if he has any sense.
