Hi everyone,
During the first Bush administration I began paying attention to politics thanks to a local radio station in Portland, 620AM KPOJ. I would listen to the progressive programming and commiserate with Democrats everywhere. Not long after that I found DU.
I have regularly read through the latest and greatest on DU ever since and I even chime in occasionally (though my post count is quite low), but this year I decided to take my political activism a little further and run for my state legislature.
I'd appreciate it if you'd surf over to my website at raylister.com and let anyone who might be interested in helping out know about my campaign. Thanks for being a part of the community that helped me choose this path.

Thanks for the heads up, Ray. And good luck.

(432 posts)This is the first year that Dems have had a registration advantage, although it is currently only 140 votes. Not only that, I got the Working Families Party and Independent Party nominations as well and I've knocked on over 5500 doors personally. I'm feeling really good about my chances despite the sizeable warchest my opponent has.

(10,005 posts)Michigan has a bill to allow driveless on all roads and holds the manufacture liable for insurance.
Million of dollars will be flying around state houses from lobbyist, I suggest strict laws to prevent wrong doing.
These cars/trucks will put a lot of people out of work but it can't be stopped.
If you want to get press; bring up the issue, let the people know that they need laws to get ready, but don't lock yourself into a hard and fast position.
Good Luck.

I just made that up but wouldn't that be pretty much any sane person's position on this issue?

(13,776 posts)It looks like there's no incumbent this year--is that right?
I wish you the very very best of luck! (P.S. Good-looking website!)

(432 posts)No incumbent, presidential election year, and a first-time Dem registration advantage. Still a tough fight that will be very close, but I think we are running a great campaign.
