All defendants in the Oregon standoff found not guilty
Reuters
27 Oct 2016 at 19:31 ET
A federal court jury on Wednesday acquitted anti-government militant leader Ammon Bundy and six followers of conspiracy charges stemming from their role in the armed takeover of a U.S. wildlife center in Oregon earlier this year.
Bundy and others, including his brother and co-defendant Ryan Bundy, cast the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as a legitimate and patriotic act of civil disobedience. Prosecutors called it a lawless scheme to seize federal property by force.

(5,417 posts)Not guilty requires all jurors to vote not guilty. Even even one did not agree, its a hung jury and a mistrial. At that point it can be retried. If most jurors vote guilty, a retrial is more likely. If most vote not guilty, its less likely.

Thank you, Mendocino, for mentioning Standing Rock!

(60,010 posts)U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown told him that there was a U.S. Marshal's hold on him from a pending federal indictment in Nevada.
"If there's a detainer, show me,'' Mumford stood, arguing before U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown.
Suddenly, a group of about six U.S. Marshals surrounded Mumford at his defense table and grabbed on to him.
"What are you doing?'' Mumford yelled, as he struggled and was taken down to the floor.
As deputy marshals yelled, "Stop resisting,'' the judge demanded, "Everybody out of the courtroom now!''
Mumford was taken into custody, a member of his legal team confirmed.
Ammon Bundy's lawyer J. Morgan Philpot, said afterwards on the courthouse steps that Mumford had been arrested and a taser had been used on him. That could not be independently confirmed.

Did the prosecutors give the defenders free reign to pick the jurors or something?!

Judge Brown previously said the case would require an unusually large jury pool.[189]
She briefly addressed jury selection for the case, and noted it would require an unusually large pool.

On August 3, about 1,500 potential jurors were summoned and asked to complete questionnaires that would be reviewed by the attorneys and parties involved in the September 7, 2016, trials.[192] Judge Brown previously said the case would require an unusually large jury pool.[189] The defense will focus on the argument that the federal government doesn't actually have jurisdiction of federal land, as they lost the right to own the land inside of Oregon once it became a stat

Yes, white men with privilege take what they want. Whether it be Bundy taking land for grazing with out paying for the right or Trump grabbing a P**sy at will. Because he can. I am so incredibly angry right now.
The men on the right believe their manhood gives them rights others do not deserve, 'cause they be white and a black man a person of color is less than a man.
They are wrong.

(21,528 posts)a black, a muslim, a woman and a Latino person all get together with assault rifles and take over a government building just as a social experiment for their treatment to show the hypocrisy in the system.
unfortunately they would all be sentenced to life in prison, so its not worth the risk.
They all would have been murdered at the site and never made it to court...let alone life in prison.
Painful.
