BREAKING NEWS: Mike Pence issues statement following incident involving campaign airplane.
Indiana Governor and 2016 Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence issued the following statement on the runway immediately following an incident where his official campaign airplane skidded off the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport:
"I'm very glad that neither I, nor anyone else on board the plane, was injured in what was certainly an eventful and unexpected turn of events," Pence stated. "Now that I have everyone's attention, I'd like to address the party members here at the 2016 Republican National Convention. (Ahem) Mr. Chairman, delegates, friends and my fellow Americans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am deeply humbled by your confidence. And on behalf of my family, here and gone, I accept your nomination to run and serve as vice president of the United States of America...."
Pence continued to give his address to a non-existant audience for approximately a half hour as rescue personnel and FAA investigators attempted to work around him and process the crash scene.
