The tomato plants I haven't pulled are getting new blossoms. The snap dragons, sweet alyssum, cleomi and roses are still in full bloom and full of bees, and I just took a photo of a Monarch butterfly.
If that short cold snap hadn't triggered the leaves to start turning and falling, I'd think it was still early September.
No complaints about not having to run the furnace, but still. This is weird. Really weird.

(26,256 posts)Definitely warmer than the last few years. I usually do the last mow by the second week of October and more often than not, even earlier.

(37,748 posts)Record October heat in north central Texas generally in the nineties when we should be averaging seventies. I think we had one light-jacket-morning. Mid-eighties on Nov. 01, as well. Blech... for a guy who likes cold weather, I'm living in the wrong place.

(34,358 posts)of the whole year and my favorite type of weather day--warm, windy, most of the leaves still bursting with color, and the lower position of the sun in the sky bathes everything is a subtle, warm glow. Perfection.
Life is good.

(26,256 posts)Actually, it wasn't all that bad. I just remember last year it was pretty cold, rainy and miserable, at this time. I suspect that things are about to return closer to normal, starting tomorrow.
And the trees are pretty lovely. I'm a Spring and Autumn person. Summer if it isn't too hot. Winter? bleck......

(62,401 posts)It is insane - talked with my neighbor yesterday. His garden is still producing peppers and tomatoes.

(26,256 posts)I still have blossoms on the peppers and tomato plants that haven't already died away. My basil was hit by the cold snap, but the sage, thyme, oregano and dill are still going strong, in my herb garden.

(26,256 posts)It looks like it is still going to stay above average, for a while, just not quite so MUCH more than average, as it was today.

(26,256 posts)I am not going to jinx things by swapping out my mower for the snow blower, quite yet.

(70,177 posts)not got the blower ready. I had a few heads of broccoli last Sunday. Tasty and have some out there yet. Usually have garden cleaned out by now. Climate change is here.

No rain predicted for the next two weeks. Balmy, mostly sunny days ahead. I wish I could enjoy it but to tell you the truth, it scares me.
