I had NO idea the gross severity of what goes on at Trump rallies.

Anyone thinking about sitting out this election? THINK AGAIN!!!
"Basket of Deplorables" doesn't even BEGIN to cover it. Scenes like this will make it hard for me to ever sing "God Bless America" and mean it. This really makes me sad. Who would have thought that in today's day and age, this kind of crap would be possible. Man! I am ashamed to say that I am totally disillusioned and must have been asleep for years.

If THIS is America, I'm moving to Europe. (Though, in my heart
of hearts, I refuse to believe it).

I have a 13 year old son, last weekend he had his best friend spend the night and all they could talk about was leaning all they could about computer science so they can move away. Both boys said they hate the ugly racist bigots of the USA. They spent all weekend learning to code and researching several nations immigration policies.

Very few Americans will meet the extremely high standards set for us. (Jill Stein would have the privilege, being a doctor and worth at least $4,000,000. If I were a supporter of hers, I would ask her to commit to staying here if she helps elect Donnie.). An American trying to even visit Canada, can be turned away at the border if she/he has a misdemeanor, like reckless driving or a DUI.

In addition, U.S. citizens still have to pay taxes here, regardless of where they live. And, should one want to renounce U.S. citizenship? It involves reams of paperwork and at least $2,400.

The slender young woman disagreed with them and didn't know her "place" by disagreeing with them and they were more than happy to take action.

There's native Americans who refuse to believe that they're descendants of early humans who migrated out of Africa. They prefer to think (wrongly) that they originated in America.

Trump is an instigator inflaming underlying distrust of racial and religious differences. However, it's happened among non-whites too. Look up the "Crown Heights riot" and how Al Sharpton made the tensions between blacks and Jews worse.

It's more troubling for white people to behave this way, in my opinion, because they're still a majority in this country. I write that despite being white myself.

that shows black, brown and red people dividing our society also is something I disagree with. Genocide against the first americans was not the reverse. Slavery was not the institution that AA created. EVERY reaction of native-americans and AA has been to protect life and loved ones. We, red, black and brown have not been the instigators of hate, racism, segregation, reservations, the Trail of Tears, Woundedd Knee, Standing Rock, the many young black males, lying in the street with bullets having penetrated their unarmed bodies, bleeding out did nothing except be in the way of Manifest Destiny of the supreme race. How young, vibrant black women are jailed on trumped up charges who are found hung in jails under extremely suspicious circumstance is not happening to other women, not of color. No, we are not at fault for reacting to white hate, historically, socially or psychologically.

It's been conjectured that about 90% of the Native American population was wiped out by disease not long after contact by Europeans. I'm not sure if that percentage is accurate, but there's little debate that disease played a role.

If natives had machine guns and a countrywide system of government instead of tribes (some of whom allied themselves with Europeans to kill other tribes), there would've been a very different outcome.

Don't forget historical examples of early Islam conquering much of early Southern Europe militarily (centuries before the Crusades) or people like Genghis Khan.

Humans are killers all over the world and among different ethnic groups. White settlers from Europe simply had an upper hand and many of them callously seized it. Coming from old Europe, which itself was governed in a pretty heartless manner, didn't help promote a very peaceful outlook on life either.

you mean indigenous African peoples, you are right about murderous intra ethnic struggles between different African peoples and by extension all racial and ethnic groups of the world. Yes you are right on that point of machine guns. Also your percentage of First citizens dying from European diseases is overly large and misrepresented in the fact that disease was used as a weapon against the First citizen nations of America, and not just from casual contact. Casual contact mortality among First citizen nations to disease being used against the First citizens with no pathological defense ranged between 25-50 percent of all Tribes/nations involved in the white expansionist genocide(s) against First citizen nations in the Americas. That includes northern, central and southern hemispheres of these Americas. The invasion by Cortez of Mexico decimated the native Mexican population(s) wiping out millions by gun andd disease. And by the way your observation of 'natives' allied with Europeans is true. People have made deals with the devil historically since the beginning of time. And these deals usually have an agenda associated with them on both sides of the deal. Hell I have no idea why a Ben Carson or a Katrina Pierson would make a deal with the current devil. Tis just narcissistic elements of human nature. I guess

As far as religion is concerned, with me, the Crusades and jihad had the same purpose. To impose a religious dogma/belief on those needing to have faith in some kind of explantion about our origins as human beings and our departure from this plain of existence.

ALL human beings do have a murderous nature I agree. Warfare down through the ages has proven that. Yet I must still state that per my points, slavery and First citizen genocide(s) have created a situation, racially and ethnically in which a Second Civil/racial/class War could be imminent if the new fuhrer wins or doesn't. HRC is a woman that scares the beejeesus out of racially sensitive and supremist oriented white males, in particular, like our current POTUS has and still does.

Americans of challenged melanin ethnicity and enhanced melanin ethnicity have been covertly and overtly at each others throat since the inception of the slave trade and the expansionist genocide(s) of this country. You're right, the history of America shows a heartlessness rivaling some of the conflicts in Europe that killed millions. Whites have fought whites, blacks have fought blacks, native-American has fought native-American yet the fact stands THIS COUNTRY is what it is all the way down to the WHITE HOUSE because it has been built by slave labor(still is with the wages these days)and the killing of indigenous peoples.

If we don't get it together, we are headed to one of those conflicts, nationally, that will leave nothing but blood in the streets and much pain and misery.

Yeah, we all need to come together! More people need to realize that we're ALL related too. Melanin protects us from damage from sunlight, but it also makes it harder to convert sunlight to Vitamin D. Rickets was more common among AA's in this country before Vitamin D was added to milk and other foods. The theory is that skin color lightened (slowly over thousands of years) after people migrated out of Africa into less sunny areas, especially cold areas that required more clothing. People who ate lots of fish, a nutritional source of Vitamin D, weren't affected as much.

Good grief, I had co-workers from Sri Lanka (a married couple) who refused to accept that their ancestors came from Africa! They had only been in this country for a short time, coming to the USA to be near their son who was a doctor here. I asked them if that was some religious-based notion on their part, but they denied that was it. They didn't want to give a reason, actually, but told me that I could believe that I was a descendant of Africans if I wished. The irony was that they had darker skin than anyone else working there, including the African Americans.

They had tribal warfare too, though. The Hollywood depiction of them being "naturally peaceful" is exaggerated. Historical narratives like Eckert's "The Frontiersmen" paint a different picture. It was very bloody and brutal from both sides.

It also didn't help that many natives sided with the Brits during both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. I totally understand why they did it! "White Americans" were more of a threat to expand land holdings. They just chose the losing side, and the previous alliance with the Brits fostered even more resentment.

I hate it and I think it's DANGEROUS!

I just take issue with anyone who suggests that we're not all essentially the same as humans.

I'll even concede that MAYBE white people are more brutal on average. Maybe, maybe not. I do wonder sometimes if cultural influences eventually show up genetically, like the claim by some scholars that Ashkenazi Jews have the highest average IQ's the world today because of their centuries-long employment opportunities in old Europe (which was more of a scholarly nature). People who were more successful in those endeavors were more likely to get married and have children, or so goes the argument. Jewish people who remained in the Middle East supposedly have lower average IQ's.

Whites went through brutal times in old Europe, so maybe there was an evolutionary force that selected for harshness too?

On a more personal note, I've shared my story of being assaulted and hospitalized by racist rednecks more than once on this board, and it's a little sad to me that I haven't even received a "that's too bad" comment from anyone. I'm an individual (in the here and now) who is very pro-Democrat, but I get the feeling that a PoC sharing a story about getting his/her feelings hurt would draw more compassion here. It's probably just an example of people being more sympathetic to what they've experienced themselves, I guess. That seems to be a trait among all people too.

Thanks, by the way.

The bar where I was assaulted was near Dayton. At least I was unconscious through most of it since I was knocked out right away by a hard blow to the back of my head after I exited the bar. I hadn't been inside a bar for over 10 years, and I decided to step inside that one on a whim because I'd been there a few times in my youth when it was "nice." It became a redneck/biker hangout in the interim. Some guy approached me and suggested that I should become a "regular" (like he was trying to get me to join a "gang&quot , but then he went full-racist and he didn't seem to like me not agreeing with him. I mostly stayed quiet, to be honest, but he still glared at me before rejoining his buddies. I still think they were responsible, whoever they were, but I never saw my attackers. To add insult to injury, the cops who found my unconscious body in the parking lot stepped inside and asked what happened to me. They were told that I did it to myself, and I was cited for disorderly conduct! When I looked online for a police report the next day (hoping it would reveal my attackers), that's when I saw the disorderly conduct charge against me (and a scheduled court date)! The judge dropped it, but she still convicted me for "public intoxication" after she asked if I'd been drinking in the bar and I replied that I had a few beers!

As I walked home from the hospital the next morning (in the middle of a mostly AA community), my car still parked near the bar and all of my money stolen the previous night, several AA guys acted happy to see me covered in dried blood and bruises. Oh, well. At least they didn't assault me too!

Most of this area is okay, though! That was the only time that I've been assaulted by anyone! Dayton is considered a "purple city" that's a mix of conservatives and liberals, and the main newspaper is generally considered pretty liberal. It's a bit segregated racially, and I don't think that helps race relations. My suburb is "mixed" at about the national average, and it's pretty peaceful.

I voted on October 12th (first day to vote early), and there were NO Trump volunteers outside of the polling area. There were many Clinton volunteers, though! I think Clinton will win the Montgomery County vote if that's any indication.

By the way, my parents were from Northern KY (around Maysville). They came from a long line of dirt farmers originally from colonies in the NE part of the country. I started reading about the old conflicts between white settlers and the Shawnee after I did some genealogy research years ago.

You were charged for getting beaten up, boy that's some good police work. Awful!

MANY of my relatives moved to Ohio when a lot of coal jobs dried up back in the 60s, and the Midwest was booming with factories. I had an uncle, a strong working man Democrat his whole life to provide for his family and put his two sons through college, only for them to become greedy Republicans when they became financially successful. Typical. The R media machine tells today's miners that Obama took their jobs (evil black man), and Hillary will keep on taking (nasty woman). But my parents generation could easily tell them that coal has had its weak times before, but Rush and Fox know all, and support their racism in so many ways.

... the police report answered that question.

I had left my wallet in my car, which I had parked behind another building. I only took a wad of cash into the bar. Well, I had my car keys as well, but luckily my attackers didn't steal those too. (After walking home from the hospital and passing out in my bed, I called a cab to take me to my car which was still where I parked it. The cab driver was a black guy and he also kind of chuckled about my injuries, but later he acted concerned and he went into a long "lecture" about how it's crazy for anyone to go inside a bar alone.)

Despite being unconscious most of the time, and me not remembering anything between exiting the bar and waking up in the ER hours later, I apparently responded to some questions according to the police report. It stated that I was unconscious, but I replied sometimes in a "very slurred voice." I must have told them my name and birth date at that time. (I called the hospital the next day to give them my insurance information which, unsurprisingly, they didn't know. I also requested a report of the tests that were done since I was unconscious through most of it.) The cops interpreted the slurring to mean that I was highly intoxicated. Uh, hello?! I had just been badly concussed! I know that I wasn't badly inebriated when I left that place.

Yeah, it sounded like the cops didn't care to investigate it very much! After I read that I had supposedly hurt myself by banging my head against the brick wall outside (per people inside the bar), I showed the judge that there was no damage to my nose or forehead. If I'd slammed my own face against the brick wall -- which I certainly wouldn't have done! -- then I would've damaged the protruding parts of my face too. I also showed her the huge bump on the back of my head. When she lowered it to "public intoxication," she seemed very irritable and acted like I was "getting off easy" or something! She also only made me pay "court costs."

Another thing that happened in court... as soon as I mentioned the name of the bar to the judge, a few other people awaiting their turn to face the judge briefly burst out laughing! I had the impression that the laughter meant that some of them knew that place was dangerous.

I was obviously very angry about what happened. I had some very dark, vengeful thoughts toward that bar for awhile which I won't even mention! As more time passed, I decided to chalk it up as a "lesson learned," especially since it's doubtful that everyone in there had assaulted me. I'll never set foot inside a drinking establishment again (unless it's a restaurant like Applebee's or something). Heck, people in Ohio are now allowed to bring guns into bars anyway! How insane is that?! The legislators still don't allow guns into government buildings, of course, because that might affect THEM.

My parents moved to Ohio in 1944, not long before WW2 was over. (If my parents were bigots towards anyone, it was the Japanese because they'd lost some friends in the Pacific. They didn't like me working at some Japanese-owned companies even years later!) They had been "childhood sweethearts" (off and on) who married at age 16! They lied on their marriage certificate, claiming to be 18! They remained married for 63 years before Dad passed away. Dad was an only child who would've inherited a LARGE farm in Kentucky, but he didn't want to live on a farm anymore! When I saw the house and farmland years later (which his parents had sold for pennies on the dollar), I was disappointed that he gave it up! He was very mechanically inclined, so that's what he wanted to do... work on machinery all day. Mom was very poor (describing how she felt like she might starve to death a dew times as a little girl), so I think she just wanted to escape that life.

Yeah, there were many people who migrated from Kentucky to this area over the years. Dayton was indeed bustling economically in the past. Dad's first job was at GM, but he quit to become an auto mechanic instead. (He later worked at other places, designing and building automated machinery.) Mom gave him grief for quitting GM and missing out on a nice pension and the like, but he claimed that he couldn't "waste his life" by "putting a screw in a hole" all day.

they know that and so they want to be part of a superior group of people superior at birth and live off the accomplishments of other individuals who merely share the same race.

Other countries have them, too. Some will soften, others won't. Let's work to keep them away from positions of control.

To use a sports analogy, two teams might be old rivals and the fans might "dislike" each other at a fundamental level, but they can usually remain "civil" around each other.

If a coach or some other "authority figure" inflames the situation with hateful speeches, the previous civility can often go by the wayside.

has been here for generations as has been their racism and bigotry. The only thing that kind of surprised me is how many racists and bigots, white, are walking the streets. I am glad trump came along to draw the roaches out of the woodwork. Now I know without doubt the level(s) of white hate in amerikkka for brown skin of any ethnicity. Except you turn the light on this bunch they don't scurry back into darkness. They have significant enough numbers now that they feel that there is safety in numbers and being that they feel justifiedd in their hate by trump accepting them en masse and able to feed off that energy of hate in their crowds, again, we got a big problem to deal with post election.

Yet this is nothing new to someone who has kept up or knows the histopry of this land from Native-american-first citizen genocide to the trumpfuhrer. Except this time, no going to the noose among a trumpbunch of bigots and racists. Fight back "by any means necessary". Standing Rock is an example of what is necessary.

America can always be left in the dust. Passport in hand, will travel. Otherwise if this trumpenfuhrer gets elected/installed(aka bush2000) get ready for the 'new normal' of amerikkkan culture.

my uncle once told me that you know you have a serious roach problem when you turn on the lights and they don't run and hide. I think the same goes for bigots.

Previous polls have shown that Trump's largest lead over Clinton was among white Evangelicals. It was something like 69% to 19% in a poll from a few weeks ago.

Christians here and in Europe certainly haven't been "lovey-dovey" throughout history. There's been witch burnings and many other violent acts. Charlemagne, who was ordained an emperor in old Europe by a frightened pope, converted many Europeans to Christianity through fear of death -- i.e., convert or die.

It's certainly not the only religion that's done such things.

I'm not sure it was such a good thing for this country to have been largely settled by white religious kooks. I'm at least thankful that many of the "founding fathers" were more sensible in that regard.

And very, very angry. Most of it was about the town of St. Cloud, Minnesota, where many Somali refugees have been resettled. These folks were not like the folks at Trump rallies. Their racism was couched in concerns for their taxes and objections to change generally and not quite so overt. Complaints about how "things are changing", about how white kids are now outnumbered in some schools (who gives a shit about that?), complaints about a mosque being built in a prominent location (to be fair, the group building it did compromise and moved it elsewhere). Lots of complaints about immigration in general and Muslims in particular. To be fair, there are a least a couple of Republicans in that episode who are appalled by this behavior. I thought the reporter was pretty even-handed to them, even as she admitted they believe things that are simply untrue.

And this is the true divide in this country. Republicans and conservatives believe things that are simply false. Some are deliberate lies (these come from Fox news and Rush Limbaugh and the like), but others things are simply provably untrue. I honestly don't know how to counteract that.

But I have to say that, right now, much of Europe isn't much better.

where for the last 7+ years the large, swollen racist underbelly full of fearful people expecting Obama to kick off a genocidal war against white supremacist racists now are fearful, mostly male I would presume, an angry woman more powerful than ANY male on this planets.............who will understand....racism, mysogyny, mental and physical abuse, homophobia and zenophobia and may go a long way toward eradicating these evils from society.

As this video shows, the fear among the deplorables being exhibited here and being disguised as hate is palpable. What's with this wanting to be the supreme race on this planet? Is it a spritual thing? WTF is it? Sick, sick narcissists that don't want to share existence in a fair and equitable manner. The human race, to me, sometimes feels very deplorable.

Granted, Trump riles them up. But, he could be replaced with any other white man who gives them permission and focus for their hate. Until they grow up and realize that they have no right to be automatically entitled to first dibs on all the goodies, they will continue to act like asshats.

right after the RNC Nominating convention, my sons and I attended the Winston-Salem, NC Trump rally to watch the circus. I t was spooky to say the least. We did stand and cheer crazily for Trump or his surrogates and drew the weird eye stare from many a Trump minion. It was interesting to go and watch the crowd, scary too. If anything, it has gotten worse. One son has already voted early in Florida where he is in grad school. My daughter voted early last weekend with only about a 45minute wait in line. My wife and other son will be voting sometime late Tuesday morning while I will be at or precinct ready to cast my ballot for Hillary the minute the doors open, then I will go to my high school classroom and see how the kids voted, those that can, in their first election. With a little luck, our nightmare will be over as Hillary wins in a landslide about 9pm Tuesday night....
