He thinks these voters in the rust belt are angry that they have lost their manufacturing jobs and will blame the Democrats for it.

These formerly middle class whites blame the Dems for their jobs being deported when it was the repug owners and CEOs (for an example see Mitt Romney's Bain Capital outsourcing model) who are the ones sending their jobs overseas.

Hell, Trump and Ivanka even have their garments made overseas and import them back here to sell. That's several hundred jobs right there that their hero could bring back into the country.

some truth to that. But I think he's exaggerating it and I also think that he's not taking proper account of the surging Hispanic vote and the minority and women votes, which will overwhelmingly go to Hillary.

Hispanics are going to want good jobs too. Down the line....this issue has to be fixed somehow or it will bite the Democrats down the line.

You can't expect to win every election through sexism, racism, and identity politics. Voters are not stupid. Eventually they are going to want results regardless of the demographics. People are somewhat finding ways to get by now. It's not really that bad out there yet. But if unemployment creeps up, or we start seeing big jumps of inflation, there is going to be a serious problem. And there may not even be a GOP around to blame.

Wait, don't bother--you can find it for free at YT.

He only has a few more days to hawk that quickie film he slapped together.

People have been stressed out enough by this for shit campaign. There is no similarity between an activist-politician-diplomat with thirty fucking years of public service, and an unhinged shitty "businessman" who has had multiple bankruptcies, multiple wives, multiple paramours, multiple sexually transmitted diseases, and, if accounts are to be believed, massive multiple debts owed to Russian mobsters, to the point that no US bank would give him change for a dollar. There simply IS NO CONTEST. One candidate is experienced and stellar, the other is shit. We don't need more Moore gloom/doom. That schtick wore thin a long time ago.

Bring someone to the polls. Bring more than one person if you can. Help people get out to vote.

That's how we win--by showing up.

If only it was that easy.

I can guarantee you, Moore agrees with every word of your comparison of the two candidates. This vilification is over the top and rather puzzling.

Then at the 11th hour he slaps together this cheesy film that meanders towards the conclusion you reference (so meanderingly that the right wing excerpted a piece of it and falsely tried to claim he turned to the dark side).

Moore BENEFITS when "The Evil Other" is in power--it gives him an excuse to create his poutrage brand of "product." His worst nightmare is a Clinton Presidency. He's been moribund since Bush left for a reason--he has a hard time being "outraged" against people who give a shit about children, women, families, jobs, choice, the Supreme Court, etc. like Barack and Hillary.

He spent plenty of time in the primary making the perfect the enemy of the good, too.

Now that he sees his path to "railing against the opposition" riches blocked by reality, he's trying to hop on the bandwagon so he doesn't look totally craven. Feh. I'm over this guy. He should go do charitable works and let someone with a fresh perspective take up the Fight The Power mantle.

As for your personal knowledge of people who need to get to the polls, maybe call your local senior center or campaign HQ and ask. I drove DOZENS of people to the polls for early voting this year--every year I do it on election day, and I think I've managed to take pretty much every one I've helped in years past to vote ahead of the day.

Trump is speaking a harsher, but similar language. If you got some moderate white Democrats there who are angry about their jobs and their lifestyles going away, he may pick off some voters.

The fact Hillary is spending money there now and planning trips there shows there is at least some concern.

Michael Moore grew up in Flint, Michigan, I believe. So he's not clueless of this region which has been decimated over the years due to outsourcing.

That it causes the same complacency we see in off-year elections. A fair number of Dems will poormouth our chances right now because of this belief.

We've seen what happens when Dems sit home thinking it's already over. Gore-Bush anyone?
