I watched "Billy Jack" (1971) last night...some things never change...

Great edgy flick - even had Howard Hesseman in one of his classic hippie roles.

But the premise of the story - Indians, Blacks and Hippies fighting bigoted locals, police and government.

The bad guys in this movie are today's TRUMP supporters...to a "T" - but this movie is from 1971!

But - it just shows...these losers have always been there...and todays problems are NOTHING NEW!

FWIW -Trump supporters are passing a graphic meme around FB with a picture of Tom Laughlin as Billy and quote from Billy Jack (shared from some "southern man" site or something)...I informed the dude that shared it about the plot of the movie - and said Trump supporters were basically the bad guys in this movie - and they lose...

He deleted the post!

the lyrics include: "do it in the name of heaven, you can justify it in the end." This is how right-wing Christians justify their vote for someone like Trump.

They're great - and easy!

Love the scene where the whole school sings the cops out of the building...

Students from the free school are refused service and mistreated by future Trump supporters. Billy Jack to the rescue!

I haven't seen it in forever, either, but I seem to remember a shoot out and the ending scene with Billy Jack being hauled out of the school in a police car with the school's students lined up on either side of the road raising their fists in solidarity.

And the next sequel is called "Billy Jack Goes To Washington" - that was on last night too - but I fell asleep!

are the government.

One thing I always notice about the ice cream shop. Before that disturbance in the ice cream shop, Bernard tries to hit on a cute girl. "Little miss up yours" slaps him down hard. Which not only publicly humiliated him, but also cost him $50, which is almost $300 in today's money.

Had she been more civil or kind to him, he might have bought ice cream for all of them.

Also I never understood why he allowed himself to be surrounded in the park. Given his skills, why not just fight your way past the first guy who tries to stop you?

Also, I am no sort of martial artist or fighter. I don't even play one on TV, but the way he kicks Posner in the face. That does not seem like a move that would have that much power behind it.
