Oh, and Bernie's a complete sell-out, anti-Trump protesters are paid by Soros, Trump's nothing to fear, if you voted for Hillary yr a Hillbot who wants WW3 but those who voted for Trump aren't racists and bigots or even folk who don't give a shit about racism and bigotry as long as it's not aimed at them. Some 'Lock Her Up!' posts, and insistence every time someone mentioned what a scary prospect a Trump administration was going to be that people having a go at Trump need to focus on the real issue, which is how terribly evil Hillary is and how they need to be alert and stop her. And that we must respect Trump supporters.

I sat and wondered to myself if maybe I wasn't as progressive as I thought I was, coz the combination of Trump soft love and high octane Hillary hate mixed with a measure of loathing for Bernie Sanders made me uncomfortable. And then I thought, nah, I'm pretty sure some of the views expressed there are pretty fucked up, so I departed and returned to DU.

I've got some DU friends who are over there, think highly of one of the admins, and thankfully they're not part of the small but loud group who are fangrrling for Trump. I'll miss them, but I don't think that place is for me. If I want to read stuff like that, I'll head over to Discussionist when it's up and running again. At least there, RW talking points are coming from RW posters, not people who drape themselves in the cloak of being progressive....

We'll see how it goes in here now.

I found myself harangued and scoffed at on here ever since the site declaration a month before an official nominee was announced for the Democratic party, with the edict of banning all "fighting the primary" which was a coded message for all hail Hillary, all the time and if you don't like it f off.

If Bernie would have conceded after California, then of course, no need to discuss and weight the merits of each, (including the electability issues). But Bernie made it clear that he was taking it all the way to the convention, so that made that new edict, respectfully because I know Earl G and Skinner have done an exemplarary job over the years, wrong on a number of levels.

This site was clearly in the majority for Sanders. I heard from a prominent member that she heard from admins it was as high as 85%. I kind of doubt that but it was still very high. So that rash move caused an exodus of a lot of good people trying to find a home where they could actually ruminate on the merits and dangers of Hillary as the nominee. Or on the very real dirty tricks of the establishment DNC. All this was deemed "re-fighting the primaries" ......A MONTH BEFORE THE PRIMARIES WERE OFFICIALLY OVER.

Many of us that went there and still do, have to hold our noses at some of the posts and threads. I think they have bee infiltrated by a small but vocal army of Brietbart fans. Ridiculous posts you would normally hear from Alex Jones. Soros is Dr. Evil and secretly runs the planet etc.. And Trump is preferable to the Clinton crime family. But we felt we had no where else to go.

There are many that were caught in the middle of what my post title says. I am glad and thankful that the admins have seen fit to allow us to now at least discuss the primaries process and the kind of misguided tunnelvision that the Democratic party elites stoked.

I had maybe one post hidden in my 13 years, and had 3 or 4 hidden in a matter of weeks simply for trying to engage this type of discussion. I wrote more than one post in one of the many dancing banana threads about the inevitable party we were all going to have soon, that Trump could still win and listed why, and I was laughed off or declared a "concern troll".

So people went where they could raise concerns and vent. We put up with the outlandish Brietbart worshipers to be able to discuss this election FROM ALL ANGLES. Not just from the strict new edicts from DU. I'd like to see some kind of understanding from folks on here of those that felt they had to leave and are filtering back. We need to come together at this time.

I'd like to see him back and others there. Seemed to be a small but vocal cadre of sour folks on here that didn't understand sarcasm. News flash: The Colbert Report was also satire. That or they knew very well how powerful satire is to cut through the bullshit and they worked 24/7 to kick him off until they found something they could blow up.

The Trumpsters are gloating and vicious. Also, they sure don't seem like a very happy bunch of people, even despite winning. Now there's big denial going on that (1) protesters are paid shills, (2) that Trump actually won the popular vote and the MSM is lying about his victory. And, there's no convincing them otherwise.

Had stopped into dKOS to lurk and a couple other sites just to get a sense of the aftermath. I did manage to see a random report somewhere about how poor Sam Wang did go on and eat a bug as promised (ended up being gourmet crickets)... But this is why I missed LBN most of all because my fellow Duers have always done an excellent job finding and posting newsworthy items when I don't often get chance to go hunting them down myself.

Agree that there is really no good substitute.
