In a weird way I'm glad we got a week off

Don't get me wrong: I missed DU like crazy. And obviously I'm not glad about the way it happened. (And of course mad praise to Skinner, Elad, and EarlG for the crazy hard work they did). But.

I think that "break" might put us in a better state going forward.

I joined DU in the depths of the Shrub administration, when Iraq (which I had only recently demobilized from) was still raging and we controlled literally no part of the national government.

We're kind of back in a similar situation. And the one consolation I really have right now is that when we're backed into a corner like this, we do much, much better. Call it a weird aspect of human nature.

VA's statewide elections are next year, and national mid-terms the year after. Time to start punching at our weight.
