NSA Chief: WikiLeaks Hacks of Democrats' Emails Were a "Conscious Effort by a Nation-State"

The WikiLeaks release of internal emails from the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign constituted a "conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect," the head of the National Security Agency said Tuesday.

"There shouldn't be any doubt in anybody's mind," NSA Director Michael S. Rogers said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. "This was not something that was done casually, this was not something that was done by chance. This was not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily." Rogers acknowledged in October that Russians were behind the hacks.

News that the DNC had been compromised broke earlier this June, when hacker Guccifer 2.0 released a trove of documents containing campaign emails and memos—most notably emails implying that the committee favored Clinton over Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary. The release of the emails led to the resignation of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

WikiLeaks also published thousands of emails from John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chair. Though Russia was long suspected of being behind the hacks, US officials did not formally accuse the Russian government of orchestrating the cyber attacks until October. In November, just four days before the election, DNC officials told Mother Jones they had found evidence that the DNC headquarters may have been bugged and had submitted a report to the FBI.

but the hack itself cold not have done any damage if the emails themselves had not uncovered so many ethical lapses and troublesome entanglements.

If the consequences of people finding out about your actions are bad, then you actions are bad.

You can look at the way he lives and know there is nothing in his returns.

in the DNC, anything revealed is damning.

Even the suggestions for for communicating with BLM leaders.

Anything Hillary did - including clearly not being influenced by for profit colleges was howled about in Bernie supporters as something "UNBELIEVABLE."

Interesting how little concern was raised by the leaked memo from Bernie's team that indicated that he would bargain for a private plane from the DNC to stump for Hillary in the fall - even as he was telling his supporters to not give up on the Superdelegates.

Putin withdraws Russia from International Criminal Court

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree Wednesday to withdraw Russia from the International Criminal Court, which rules on such grave charges as genocide and crimes against humanity.

Russia in 2000 signed the Rome treaty that established the Hague-based court but never ratified it.

Putin's decree, published on the Kremlin's website, comes a day after the U.N. General Assembly's human rights committee approved a resolution condemning Russia's "temporary occupation of Crimea" and blamed Russia for rights abuses such as discrimination against some Crimean residents, such as Tatars.

Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014 from Ukraine following a hastily called referendum, a move that led to crippling Western sanctions. A separatist insurgency erupted in eastern Ukraine the following month, backed by Russia.

might have helped 3-4 weeks ago to counterbalance the Comey betrayal of our political system. Well not a goddamn thing that this admission will do now!

Perhaps a few vote tabulators in the "blue wall" states to just put each state over on the red side, giving Drumpf the election without raising too much suspicion?

Why, when polls are wrong, do the errors almost always favor the Republicans?

Watch for bold moves by the Russian state in the mideast and Eastern Europe after 1/20/17.
