Do you think Republican electors could still elect Hillary?

We have two electors who publicly stated that they would go 'faithless'.

Most Republicans in the real world can see the nightmare a trump in the White House would be.

What are the chances, and your thoughts?

Grasping at straws, I realize, but I have to get to sleep somehow.

You will have to learn to live with reality, extremely unpleasant as it is.

They could actually be taking their lives in their hands if they did that.

highly, highly improbable.

but who knows. maybe a couple dozen of them do see that if the electoral college were ever going to do it's job, now is the time. they might well be the last electors. they should be if they dont act. maybe some of them see it that way.

6. if Trump has a Watergate before 12/19, which given how unpredictable things now are,

and opinion polls in WI, PA, and MI have figures like, >50% regret that Trump won their state, like 70%, Nixonesque numbers, or something comes out that pressures Trump to relinquish his claim to the POTUSy, then its a possibility. It would have to be a nuclear bombshell, like iron clad proof that Russia elected it.

That Hillary won the popular vote is the only reason this is a remote possibility.

But, I think it would be really bad for us nationally. Hillary would live a nightmare trying to govern under those cirumstances. It would normalize the way Obama was treated.

Trump is not fit to be president. If he takes over the presidency, Ryan and his friends will manipulate him like a puppet. It's much better to have four years of inaction than four years of disaster.

I'm talking about a major tea party style uprising. It would be a 2018 republican sweep where they would have veto proof majorities. To completely negate election results would backfire bigtime. It's an especially bad time to do it when there is a growing movement to abolish the electoral college. Exploiting it and calling to abolish it is pure hypocrisy.

I hadn't thought of it that way. Unfortunately, what this means is that we will have four years of Trump and Pence (I predict six months of Trump, followed by 3.5 years of Pence), during which unthinkable horrors will inevitably come to pass. I remember people saying, sixteen years ago, that four years of W wouldn't be so bad. Then 9/11 happened.

10. This is exactly what the Electoral College is for.
Wed Nov 16, 2016, 05:46 PM
Nov 2016

We have the Electoral College for a reason. It is there to prevent a candidate from winning the presidency through demagoguery and lies. It is there so that if the public elects someone who would be a danger to the country's well being, the Electoral College can override the public's decision and put in place a more reasonable person as president.

If the Electoral College does not do its job now, what exactly is its purpose? It makes no sense for the Electoral College to override the popular vote in order to put in place a person who will place this country in dire danger.

Given the questionable involvement of a foreign government and our own FBI tactics to disrupt our election I would hope someone would raise the possibility that maybe the election was invalid.
Do I think this would happen? Not in a world that would consider DT the leader our the free world.
