We just kicked in to a student at-risk of hunger each week for a year

Tis the season. We are in for a year: http://www.fooddriveonline.org/foodbankheartland/backpacks.php?c=17e1a90

Approximately 87,000 children in Nebraska and western Iowa are at-risk of hunger. The Woodhouse Auto Family urges you to help by donating to the BackPack Program of Food Bank for the Heartland. Simply select the backpack above with the amount you wish to donate. Click and drag over the checkout scanner.

One in five kids in Food Bank for the Heartland's 93-county service area is food insecure. Our BackPack program provides food for children when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. We work with more than 250 schools across Nebraska and western Iowa to distribute 8,400 nutritious food packs to students at-risk of hunger each week. Each pack contains two breakfast meals and two entrees with servings of milk. The price per pack is $4. Your contribution can help us fill those backpacks.

or similar organizations that operate locally. We have a local organization that does something similar. It's $28 a month to sponsor a student.

I applaud everyone who participates in helping our struggling families. Our Family Action Network representative is, right now, working to find winter shelter for my student and his family; they've been living in a tent. I've been providing backpacks to his family, anonymously.
