U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton attempting to start a revolt against Nancy Pelosi

U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Salem, MA) is leading a charge to challenge the re-election of longtime Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi, saying Hillary Clinton’s defeat should prompt a “hard conversation” about continuing old-guard strategies in his reeling party.

Moulton — elected three years after Pelosi lost her speakership amid a wave of Tea Party Republican electoral victories — acknowledged he’s taking a “huge political risk” flouting Pelosi’s bid to remain minority leader, but said “the stakes are too high to be worried about political risk.”

“It’s time for our political leaders to just do the right thing, regardless of the political risk,” he said.

Moulton authored a letter signed by two other colleagues Tuesday asking for a delay on Pelosi’s push for minority leader. Members of the Democratic caucus were to vote today, but Moulton’s action prompted a delay until Nov. 30.
