The Louisiana Senate race is the Democrats last best chance for something positive

http://www.salon.com/2016/11/17/looking-at-louisiana-the-race-for-the-senate-isnt-over-yet/

The media may not be talking about the Louisiana Senate race, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention to it.

Because none of the candidates won an outright majority of the votes, there will be a runoff election next month between the top two contenders.

While technically this could award any two candidates regardless of their party, this year it went to Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy and Democratic Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell.

Before Democrats get too optimistic, it should be noted that Trump won Louisiana by 20 points. Before Republicans become complacent, however, they should remember that just last year a Democrat, Jon Bel Edwards, was elected governor.

If you look at a picture of him, you'd think he was a trumphumper. Chubby, old, white guy.

In the ads he ran prior to the election, he mentioned both Hillary and President Obama in a positive way, which NOBODY running for office around here ever does. Most Democrats tried to distance themselves from PBO and HRC during the campaign. Too many nutty Catholics in this state.

Campbell's ads mentioned that he stands for equal pay for women, paid family leave, college affordability, and a higher minimum wage. I don't know his stance on abortion, but other than that, he seems like a good candidate for women's issues.
