Is it time for Nancy Pelosi to graciously set aside to pave the way

for a fresh face?

I think so. The biggest problem with long serving elected officials is that they many times become tone deaf.

They are so enveloped in self importance that they don't recognize that people turn them off and stop listening.

The Democrats need to start, RIGHT NOW, that they "get it". Congressional leader would be a good place to start.

There comes a time when a new generation needs to take the helm. I guess it's up to members of Congress, though. We don't have much say in the matter.

What has she done, and who could replace her? Minority leader is not about having the right tone. It's an internal position that requires administrative expertise and ability to move all the pieces within the House Democratic caucus.

You maybe can think of people whose "tone" you prefer, but they may entirely incapable of herding together several hundred disparate representatives, of strategizing on legislative actions and keeping the caucus together, and all the other things the minority speaker has to do.

This isn't a top-down ideological position; it's not even a public position (in terms of getting out messages). It's a structural position. And the people who get elected by the members of their caucus to lead are the ones who are good at strategy, cohesion building, bargaining with the party in power, etc. It has to be someone that all the members respect and trust.

She's been damned good at it.

As I said: it's internal. So your argument doesn't really hold any weight.

Name one person who didn't vote or changed their vote because of Nancy Pelosi. I bet 75% of Americans never even heard of her.

It's up to the House members elected by the people to elect their own leader.

We must, imo, identify with working people and it would be a much better image to have a leader from the Rust Belt I think than Pelosi from California. She's done a great job and deserves our thanks, but it is time to move on.

Pelosi Wants Probe Of DNC Hack, Suggests Giuliani's Too Cozy With FBI
Source: TPM

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for an investigation into Russia's interference in the U.S. presidential election, in addition to whether Rudy Giuliani, one of Donald Trump’s reported picks for secretary of state, had any prior knowledge of the FBI’s handling of its probe into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

“Something is not right in this picture,” Pelosi said in a wide-ranging Thursday press conference.

U.S. intelligence agencies believe that hackers tied to the Russian government carried out cyberattacks on the Democratic National Committee’s servers this summer. Radical transparency organization WikiLeaks published hundreds of these hacked communications, as well as emails hacked from Clinton campaign chair John Podesta, in a huge embarrassment to the Democratic Party.

“I think that the American people deserve an investigation into how a foreign government had an impact on our election,” Pelosi told reporters.

She also took the lead in making sure the votes were there.

If she was like me, she took great pleasure in watching Boner scream his head off like a maniac on the house floor.

She's the one that gets the votes together for needed legislation. She's done her job effectively.

For one, she's been a damn fine minority leader and a great role model for women. For another, the optics of brushing aside one of our strongest women leaders is just outright offensive.

Thirdly, I want it to be a woman who dogs that fucker Trump ever damn step of the way. I want him to see a strong woman who won't put up with his shit.

Trump can't handle strong women and we need Pelosi front and center.
