I know I l post a lot about misogyny and sexism

I do not see it everywhere all the time. However, I do see it I think more often than others who might just not want to be dragged down by noticing it all the time. Or those who are just plain old oblivious or just not caring that much about the issue. Or take personal affront to anyone thinking something is sexist.

It's not just seeing it, it is also feeling it. How you can be talked down to by male counterparts. The same ones over and over again who constantly have to find some way to disagree with you over everything, or not have enough respect to have a normal conversation, but challenge after challenge after challenge to prove your point until it is so circular no one knows what the original point was to begin with.

I know I am not the only one. And guess what, sometimes I shut down and don't talk about it, because it's a fucking drag and sometimes people accuse you of seeing it in everywhere... but thing is it is every where. If I stop addressing it, I feel like I am participating in it.

For a good part of the primary and general election, I withdrew from this place because of it. I shouldn't have. But I also didn't have a choice sometimes. I was flagged or got 5 or close to 5 hides because I addressed it with someone and that was the larger offense than the actual sexism/misogyny.

I hope this election has shown everyone just how prevalent this is in womens lives. We need to talk about it. We need to be listened to. We need to be believed. We need to be respected when discussing it and not have to defend our feminist thoughts to a bunch of people who identify as progressive.

I am a democrat. A liberal. A progressive. I am not an enemy.

Yes, we see it frequently, but look what a huge percentage of America just did. We aren't crazy or delusional! There really is a large portion of America that is racist.

My back isn't good, but my sister and I are looking at walkers that have seats. Neither of uses a walker, but we can't go far or stand for long periods. That might give us a way to make it. I'm having a CT scan the first of Dec and unless it is worse than I think, I will find a way. It is too important to miss.

I don't think it's talked about enough. For some reason, so many people - even on the left - do not want to acknowledge it. When half of the population is hurt and dragged down by something, it is not insignificant. It is a serious problem.

It really pains me that there are so many people that so many so-called liberals ignore posts like this because they have personal issues that they have never resolved. They are against oppression except when women are the ones oppressed. Thank you very much for staying in there and fighting the good fight!

where Democrats stand in clear, stark opposition to the Republican position, sexism and misogyny should not be in dispute here.

The Republican voters put Trump in office!

It is truly mystifying that we have to argue with fellow liberal, progressive Democrats on these core values that define who we are.

If "populist progressives" feel the necessity to redefine and reshape the Democratic Party on these issues as a condition of support, then our Big Tent is getting shrunk down to umbrella size.

I have two daughters, one of whom encounters misogyny daily despite being a higher up in her company.
My eyes are almost always opened by misogyny posts.

people just don't care. Most disappointed by so-called allies on the left who see bringing attention to sexism or racism (those damn SJWs!) as an effort to divide us rather that an effort to educate and improve us.

When Bannon was first appointed there was an uproar about his white nationalism and his anti-semitism but very few called him out for his misogyny. Even while they publicized the following headlines from Breitbart:

"There's no hiring bias against women in tech, they just suck at interviews"

"Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy"

"Would you rather your child had feminism or cancer?"

It's not just about hurt feelings, it's about pervasive attitudes that have a real effect on women and girls.

Unfortunately, too many are invested in the denial of sexism/ misogyny, racism, bigotry and hate ... and too many in this country actually embrace sexism/ misogyny, racism, bigotry and hate, as evidenced by the rise of tRump.

We all need to speak out .... confronting sexism/ misogyny, racism, bigotry and hate is not worse than engaging in sexist/ misogynistic, racist, bigoted or hate filled speech and deeds ... it is never OK

Feminist philosophy and theory drives a lot of how I perceive the world--the longer I am away from the election, the less surprised I am she lost. And yes I blame misogyny and sexism and racism before I look at other factors.

who voted for this POS. This is the Michael Moore approach and it is totally wrongheaded because it is THIRTY-FIVE YEARS TOO LATE. There is no way to reach these guys because their entitled attitudes are ingrained from childhood and reinforced in adulthood by hate radio and outlets like Fox. Many come from authoritarian backgrounds like fundamentalist churches or the military. They were raised on a steady diet of sexism and racism and feel they deserve to make the big bucks regardless of education or skill level because they are white dudes who have or will have "families to support." Cry me a goddamned river.

You can't reach them. Sexism and racism have no place in 21st century America. They just need to be cut loose and wither.
