I keep thinking about one of the Gun Enthusiasts' talking points.

It's a common one, one you may have seen posted here at DU. It goes something like this:

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Certainly, guns are commonly used for recreational purposes. But the Second Amendment is designed for the protection and empowerment of the public. Citizens are allowed to protect their homes and possessions from those who would wrongfully take them. And if by some chance an overreaching, tyrannical government is imposed upon this country, its citizens are entitled to armed protection from it---to the point of overthrowing said tyranny and establishing satisfactory leadership in its place.

I would imagine that this is a talking point that the NRA plans on stashing in their attic for the next few years.

I'm sure NRA Board Members like this will be advising Trump on issues -- Hoyt Nov 2016 #1
Like I say: I believe this talking point is about to be made scarce by the pro-gunners. (nt) Paladin Nov 2016 #2

And, Teddy is hardly the most white wing of the NRA.
