Someone has made multiple attempts to get into one of my email accounts over the last week.

It appears they didn't have any luck. I am not very computer savvy. The email I use did give me the ip address so I could accept the action if it was me. It wasn't me.

Is there a place that gives you more than just very basic info when it comes to ip addresses. All I have found with google is that it is a Verizon account out of NY.

TIA

My puter has been doing funny stuff like not recognizing passwords at first and then taking longer to load.

It is the email I use here. I'm not that stressed as it is a fake email account I only use for political boards. No information can be linked to me unless they can get location. I have no clue if that is possible. Guess it somewhat is as that is what I am trying to do with their ip address.

I got an e-mail from shaw.ca that a Russian IP was logging into my account--I don't HAVE a shaw.ca account. So, no, I won't click on their link

The email address informing me of the attempts checked out as being from my email provider. I still didn't use those links to do resets.

A few hours after the DU hack I had someone trying to get into my gmail account. I've never had that happen before. Gmail notified me about the attempt and asked for verification.

I immediately changed my password.

I did reset my passwords. That is what I meant when I said I didn't use the direct information links to reset. I changed them directly through the profile. See, even my IT jargon is horrid. lol

My note was directed to others reading the thread as well, who might get led astray...on-line life has gotten more difficult the past few years.
Stay safe.
