(26,877 posts)Executives and anchors from the country's five biggest television networks are set to meet with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower on Monday afternoon.
The meeting was organized by Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, who is now a senior adviser to Trump.
The substance of the meeting is intended to be off the record, meaning the participants will not divulge what is said. President Obama and other government officials occasionally hold similar off the record sessions with reporters, anchors and other media bigwigs.
A Trump aide said the meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Trump Tower. Conway subsequently confirmed the plan.

It's a goddamn shame nobody will have the guts to call their bluff. It's not like anyone has learned anything because of "access" in the last decade or so, or at least since 2001.

(2,679 posts)I haven't watched the news since around 11pm Nov 8. I have brief fantasies with just watching Joy Reid, Maddow and Lawrence. Mostly so the excuse of bad ratings is the reason for them getting canceled. Those 3 and maybe a few others are all that act like real reporters.
However I think it isn't going to matter if I started watching just those shows. Those shows will probably be canceled soon. Unless they conform. And in that case, why bother watching.
People really need to just turn it off.

(13,081 posts)But otherwise no cable news for the last few years. Sometimes I watch Vice or regular NBC nightly news, but only occasionally. I didn't not want to be one of "those people" -- some hipster asshole -- but I really am happier. Like, measurably, making-progress-with-my-therapist happier.
