Experts: Trumps Conflict-of-Interest With His D.C. Hotel Raises Impeachment Concerns

by Rachel Stockman | 11:42 am, November 21st, 2016

Steven Schooner, a law professor at George Washington University, raised serious legal concerns about Donald Trump and his ongoing interest in Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C., especially after a report in The Washington Post that said foreign diplomats felt pressure to stay there. He’s not the only legal expert to raise constitutional questions.

“Why wouldn’t I stay at his hotel blocks from the White House, so I can tell the new president, ‘I love your new hotel!’ Isn’t it rude to come to his city and say, ‘I am staying at your competitor?”one Asian diplomat told The Post.

During an appearance on MSNBC Monday morning, Schooner not only raised issues about the ethics of the situation, but also said that Trump could have an “impeachment issue because you have foreign states basically paying money to the Trump Organization by using their hotels.”

The Trump Organization entered into a contract with the General Services Administration to lease the Old Post Office pavilion, a 117-year old property, in order to open the hotel. The Office of Government Ethics apparently determined ethics rules preventing other federal employees from making money from their positions do not apply to the President. Schooner disagrees.

is the worse double standard. He should receive no special consideration. He knew going forward that this would be a problem. When I think of all the crap the media gave Hillary over the Clinton Foundation, and they are not roasting this ba$tard? There is no way that they can ever do a blind trust. The tentacles of this monster are far and wide.

He has a choice, liquidate EVERYTHING due to complexity or resign his stolen position.

easy peasey. Now media, do your effing job and go after the right person this time!

Republican House a republican senate with impeach? I somehow don't see that happening unless they have the knives out for him and want Pence in his stead.

I don't think the republicans would want the stain of impeachment on one of there own.

perhaps we should pick our battles here, and make an example of this property. some stuff he just has to divest.

sell it back to the city of d.c. sell/give it to the park district.
preferably at the kind of firesale prices that people usually get when they pick up the pieces of his other business disasters.

Trump U, rape case, Old Post Office and other real estate conflicts of interest, 6 bankruptcies, grabbing pssy for umpteen years, assumeably no tax paid, repealing O-care, going to coke-and-sex orgies, fake foundation that wasn't registered, 5 children with 3 women, he was for ________ before he was against it, etc. etc. Just try to cover it all.

Where some of them (CNN for example) went wrong was having panels that endlessly talked/debated about polls. They should have focused on issues instead.
