Donald J. Trump just undermined himself.

Ezra Klein
Just now ·

Donald J. Trump just undermined himself. What he wanted to do was shut down the people asking for a recount. Then he sent this tweet. If Democrats worry the votes were miscounted, and Trump himself believes that millions of people voted fraudulently, then it’s clear we need a recount to restore faith in the outcome of the election.

Meanwhile, it’s unnerving that the president-elect can’t restrain himself from making a bad situation worse on Twitter, or even hold himself to the logic of the argument he intended to make and the outcome he wanted to achieve.

I would have thought that "nobody cares" that the Clinton Foundation runs a squeaky clean operation, and that it was a lie of the first water to say that Hillary Clinton profited personally from it. I would have thought that "nobody cares" that as Secretary of State, Clinton operated a private e-mail server that was totally secure from hacking because none of the hackers knew where to find it. I would have thought that "nobody cares" that the Republican candidate is an ambulatory lie machine. Okay, nobody did care about that one.

Oddly enough, people will care about all kinds of things if someone is telling them it matters again and again.

Shakespeare's phrase, "hoist with his own petard," is an idiom that means "to be harmed by one's own plan to harm someone else" or "to fall into one's own trap", implying that one could be lifted (blown) upward by one's own bomb, or in other words, be foiled by one's own plan.

there. There was a statistic on one of the news shows this morning stating that the majority of Americans do NOT believe he has a "mandate", so he probably figured it was time to propagate more bullshit. His handlers obviously don't care about the well-being of our country and have little regard for democracy, but it's hard to believe they are letting him do this to himself, and by association to them as well.

any one of the political parties could go to the Supreme Court and
have the whole election nullified? If evidence of voter fraud, hacking,
vote count padding emerge, that evidence could be added to
Russian hacking, and DT's own characterization of rampant illegal
voting.

There is decreasing confidence in these results, and legitimacy is
out the window.
