Gore Says Electoral College Should Be Eliminated

"SNIP.............

Former Vice President Al Gore says the balancing act between the Electoral College and the popular vote has shifted, and that a reliance on the latter “would stimulate public participation in the democratic process like nothing else we could possibly do,” NBC News reports.

I heard Eric Holder talking in an interview; he said to eliminate the electoral college would require a constitutional amendment passed by both houses, then ratified by 3/4 of the states. A tremendous feat, yet one worth striving for.

As Bruce Willis said in "Die Hard" "Welcome To The Party Pal".

The Electoral College is nothing now other than a right wing scam and this mismatch will keep happening in the post Faux News reality.

Someone who wins by about 2 and a half million votes a loser.....only in America. The rest of the world would be laughing at us if they were not so terrified.

We're probably the only civilized country in the world to use such an archaic system. It's basically nothing more than a means to keep ignorant rural states with more cattle than people relevant. Unless this broken system is fixed it will ultimately lead to the doom of our nation. First GWB, and now Trump. When all is said and done, the EC will have inflicted an unspeakable amount of damage to our nation.

The EC was originally designed to prevent tyranny of the majority, but now we have a tyranny of the minority. How is that supposed to be better?

A situation like that is the only path I can imagine to ever removing the electoral college. It can't be an instance where the EC delivers a Republican victory, because Democratic outrage on this issue doesn't mean anything. But if the conservative base were outraged to the point of demanding it's removal... who knows.

Clinton won the election, she most likely would have won the EC had the GOP not rigged the vote by not counting votes and hacking.
We need to federalize the election of our President. What sense does it make that our most wealthy, progressive and diverse state, California, gets virtually no say in the election of our leader?
Why should flyover states like Iowa and Utah filled with religious zealots have as much say as they do?
If only Al was allowed to claim the election that he rightfully won on 2000 the world would be such a better place. We would most likely have a much more stable Middle East, the climate would not be spiraling out of control and our economy would be in better shape without the 2stolen elections of babybush.

Maybe there should be a legal move in. Pay some unemployed folks to move to maybe Montana, just for the time required to register to vote and to vote. If, even once, Democrats won this way, the problem would be solved, and some folks could enjoy living in Montana for a few months. The election even comes before winter.

and it would make vote rigging equally effective in every state
so it would be less concentrated and therefore less potent
