Officer Slager felt "in fear for his life" because a TASER was pointed at him? (Walter Scott case)

Wasn't the whole point of tasers to give police "non-lethal" means of dealing with an aggressive person? You can' have it both ways. If it's non-lethal, he's not in danger of losing his life. If he's not in danger of losing his life he's not allowed to use deadly force.

(haven't heard this mentioned when they're talking about Slager's trial.)

Officers can shoot a civilian, if they fear a civilian is going to take their life.

Civilians cannot shoot an officer, if they fear an officer is going to take their life.

Substitute civilian for "criminal" if you want. But the case could be made the civilian tases officer, then attacks while officer is incapacitated.
