I've read a lot of headlines that contain some form of "Trump falsely tweeted." While this is correct, and their is no evidence to support what he's said, it seems to me like he's getting to much of a pass on this. IMHO this is a huge deal. Tweets like this from Trump are like an IV drip to his supporters. I had one argue with me, "His statement is not fact based, but it can't be dis-proven either." We need to start breaking down the myth.
As devastating as it is, he is going to be our next president, and I don't believe statements like this should be laughed and and dismissed as Trump saying Trumpy things. I'm hoping that every question directed to Trump or any member of his administration is in regards to this claim. The harassment about this issue should not stop until Trump admits that this was a bullshit statement. I'm afraid the press calling him a liar isn't enough anymore, they need him to admit he's a liar.
There has been a lot of talk about how to handle Trump's tweeting. I don't think just labeling it false and moving on is a smart strategy. Any other thoughts?

(26 posts)but I feel like this one strikes at the heart of America. He's basically claimed that no elected official right now is there legitimately. Not a single governor, representative or school board member. If he loses in 2020, are we going to have to rehash this 'millions of illegals voting' issue?

(90,762 posts)assure us that no one voted illegally.
Because they are going to be against the recounts going on simply because of who is supporting them.
Turn it back on them, in other words.
And then point and laugh.

(13,390 posts)The invoked horror driving the voting resriction laws is the idea that millions of illegal immigrants will vote illegally. Illegal is a deliberate language rather than the historically invoked unregistered voters, dogs, and the ever popular dead people who vote.
Since they have no evidence, blanket statements with key language will do to provoke xenophobes, and racial bigots. They do not need evidence for a statement like that to work, but they woul d be glad to have it.

(111,250 posts)as specified in the constitution. That means, according to his viewpoint, women and renters are all illegal voters.
As for the twit's constant tweeting, it will eventually come home to roost. Orange Caligula will go the way of his namesake.
