8 Big Changes Under Tom Prices Obamacare Replacement Plan

Too long an article to post all but the changes are not good.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), the fierce opponent of the Affordable Care Act who was just tapped by President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday to head the Department of Health and Human Services, is a rarity on Capitol Hill: A Republican with a plan to simultaneously repeal and replace Obamacare.

Price, 62, an orthopedic surgeon from the Atlanta suburbs and the chair of the House Budget Committee, began focusing his energies on dismantling Obamacare almost as soon as President Obama signed the landmark health insurance law in 2010. Over time, he has drafted and promoted a series of largely market-based substitutes to overcome what he has described as “oppressive” federal government strictures and runaway costs.

As the new HHS Secretary, the Tea Party conservative will be central to the GOP drive to repeal Obamacare – a major step that they are likely to take beginning in January after a new Republican-controlled Congress is sworn in and Trump takes the reins at the White House.

As an unwavering supporter of Trump throughout the campaign, Price will be well positioned inside government to help shape the emerging Obamacare replacement legislation. He will then likely press on with his other ideas for reforming Medicare and Medicaid, the nation’s premier entitlement programs for seniors and the poor.

Obamacare, Medicare, and/or Medicaid? Isn't lack of public support the reason why * never was able to privatize Social Security? He had both Houses in Congress and could have, but didn't.

Again, Bush couldn't get away with privatizing Social Security because of the potential ramifications.

Why aren't Republicans worried about the nuclear fall-out if they tamper or eliminate these programs?

to keep Social Security since FDR. Never have we had to worry about the Senate going Nuclear. It has always been the more deliberate body of Congress, and the arcane rules use to prevail. Those days are gone,we are dealing with the Newt Gang from 1992 and the Contract with America. Every real divisive piece of Legislation is going to be passed via Reconciliation which does not need the 60 votes to pass, just 51. And the House can do a voice vote.

Appears the Media is all in with the GOP and their destruction of our Nation.

"$3,000 (tax credit) for those 51 and older" ...it seems that the Republicans have no clue what life and finances are like for 80% of us out here outside of Congress

before the ACA, I was paying over twice that amount for health insurance...

needing to also be in political office? We had TWO here in Oregon that ran for Governor and senator and lost. They are always brilliant surgeons and great doctors but HORRIBLE human beings like wackjob Carson. They creep me out. God complex. UGH.

Also they love for advocating to let people die from lack of insurance or health care. They are CREEPS.
So many many mini Mengeles I guess. Frankly I have never meet a Doctor I liked either. Arrogant assholes.

Shrub was stopped in his tracks when a collection of non-neocons got on their feet and told him it wasn't going to happen when he wanted to privatize SS. If you remember, he too claimed he had a "Mandate" and he was going to spend his "political capital".

What is so daunting about DT and a republican Congress? We did it before and we can do it again.

and frankly the midterms won't be their end since more dems are up for election.

I'm not sure how we'll proceed but it might mean Trump voters finally seeing their pocketbooks damaged.

Plus, whatever we can do with sheer will and force.
