Is it that they are just dumb, or is it willful ignorance? Those are two different things. If someone is dumb, just doesn't possess critical thinking skills and processes information without a filter, well then it really isn't their fault. But willful ignorance is something else; it is a desire to seek out information or to block information in order to justify ideas that are otherwise questionable.
