Congressional Democrats should filibuster rule change to allow Mattis to be Sec of Defense

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-transition-watch-170401049.html

President-elect Donald Trump has selected retired Marine General James "Mad Dog" Mattis to serve as his secretary of defense. Considering Mattis retired just four years ago, Congress will need to pass legislation to bypass a federal law that restricts secretaries of defense from having been on active duty the seven years prior.

Fuck them and this warmonger as SOD.

Common sense would be to get a few appointments in, then change the rules. Travis_0004 Dec 2016 #8

i could see it going either way when they vote on rules for next session
1. Keep a filibuster: it's traditional and allows GOP members a way out if they don't think their constituents will like a particular law or provision thereof
2. Drop the filibuster: especially for the cabinet appointments, Democrats could tie up the senate all session long filibustering Trump's repulsive toilet of a cabinet

and make it a simple majority for SCOTUS nominees...I knew this would bite us in the ass eventually...we were all happy and rooting him on before the '14 midterms...now we are frigged if they do or expand the tactic.

Question is will they keep Reid's rule of 50 votes. Not as easy as you might think. Graham, Paul, and others want it back to 60
