...about all of the money their lame-duck governor just spent to basically codify the jobs that Carrier will ship to Mexico, notwithstanding their 'agreement' to defer the movement of some of those jobs.
It has to be dawning on them that, not only can't this stunt be replicated around the state, it's certainly not going to work nationally. Moreover, they have to be thinking of how much more impact the taxpayer-funded payoff to Carrier would have if distributed to the thousands of other Indiana businesses, or, by extension, the millions of workers around the nation experiencing the same economic pressure.

(24,324 posts)Ever been to, oh say, Indianapolis? The only thing to eat there is big hunks dead cows.
Lived there for 18 years. Many cool places and cool people. The state as a whole on the other hand

(16,309 posts)but try the places on Massachusetts Ave., near downtown. Some good stuff. Another good Thai place whose name I can't remember, in Fountain Square, short cab ride from d-town. If you stay near convention center, then yep, a lot of the eateries are geared toward that crowd. But Yelp is your friend!

(11,996 posts)What makes Indiana re: Carrier different?
Shit - Cuomo gave Remington 5.5 million over 5 years to consolidate 600 jobs in NY, and a year later they moved to Alabama (due to "gun laws" - now that's a bad taste!).

(85,971 posts)...but for a president to sell this to the nation is likely a reflection of his entire economic policy. Sleight of hand, shell-game politics benefiting a select few.
I've seen several clips and statements from Indianans complaining about the cherry-picking of Carrier and these few select jobs.

Now Trump's not so tough, just another dumb politician but his voters won't see it that way.
