Society allows men to look their age but not women.

I saw that with Hillary Clinton. I even saw the comment here more than once. Hillary Clinton is a sixty nine year old woman. Without makeup she looks like a sixty nine year old woman. However society demands she wear makeup to look a decade or more younger. If she doesn't she was criticized. Society doesn't expect the same from a man. He is allowed to look his age !!!

As a guy I say that sucks !!!

Look at all the female stars who get in to the beauty business as they get older.

...that opined that many people had no idea what a 40-50-60 year old woman looked like because women had lied about their ages for such a long time becuase of unfair pereptions based on the # of years one had accumulated

if people looked at me and said "Gee, you sure don't look 50" instead of thinking "My god, that's a rough looking 40". As I look back I realize that I have earned every gray hair and wrinkle I own.

let herself go. Gray hair in a man is distinguished, but a woman should probably think about coloring her hair. Wrinkles? A man looks "weathered" whereas a woman looks haggard.

As a woman of Hillary's age, I have confronted this IRL. It sucks.

Old age in men connotes learned wisdom and earned wealth and stability.

Young age in women connotes sexual desirability and chidbearing.

It does suck, and marginalizes a large and important segment of our population, but what to do about it? It's not just men's mags-- you may have noticed your local newscasters becoming hotter and blonder and wearing tighter tops.
