And here's yet another thing to piss us off.

There's a thing called a Temporary Flight Restriction. These were created after 9/11 to keep airplanes from flying over certain areas or large gatherings of people. One kind of TFR is the presidential TFR. These travel with the president, and prevent aircraft from flying over or near anywhere the president is. Their size varies, but they can have a radius as large as 30 nautical miles (not quite 35 statute miles), and can go as high as 18,000' above the ground. My question is, if Trump decides he's going to spend most of his time in his faux-Baroque nightmare of a penthouse in NYC, there will have to be a TFR over most of Manhattan whenever he's there; so what will that do to air travel in and out of NYC?

For security and logistics it makes more sense than going back and forth.

It's part of the job that he tried so hard to get for two years.

But the White House doesn't have nearly enough stuff that's covered with fake gold, so he probably doesn't consider it to be worthy of him.

She's lasted longer than the others - his usual trade-in cycle seems to be no more than 10 years - but there's only so much that botox can fix, and no doubt he's started looking around for a replacement.

Even with a TFR they allow routes for commercial aircraft. With the exception of Airforce one on the runway, or taxiing to and from the runway, they never really put a freeze on all traffic.

especially Teterboro. It won't shut down airline ops but will complicate things, even for them, because of ATC rules and restrictions. And if they decide the Trump Tower should be deemed prohibited airspace, that will affect the airlines, too, just like D.C. since 9/11.

Years ago I was a passenger in a rented Cessna that flew VFR up the East River and back down the Hudson. My friend just took off after work and decided that would be a nice thing to do.

I don't believe you can do that now, even when the President is not in town.

14. TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Sat Dec 3, 2016, 09:50 PM
Dec 2016
On other occasions, a TFR might be structured with a “cut-out” to allow operations into an airport that lies just inside the inner ring. This happens quite often for Teterboro Airport (TEB) when TFRs are placed over the New York City area. In these cases operators need to be aware that certain approaches and departures may not be available for the airport in the cut-out.

Planes landing at National come down the river and make a hard right turn. You can see the WH from the plane and it's not far away. I expect they'll figure out a way to allow air traffic and simultaneously protect the president from moozelims and messkins. Would hate to see him harmed. Such a wonderful guy. So tolerant. So compassionate.

Sat Dec 3, 2016, 11:50 PM
Dec 2016

It does mean it is RESTRICTED. When a TFR is active, pilots must be in contact with ATC and they must have a clearance to enter the TFR. Military and Law enforcement are usually exempt from these requirements. Even those on a VFR flight plan usually are given a squawk code and have to follow the same rules as the commercial guys. Obviously, a Presidential TFR is THE most restrictive, to the point where they are halting all air traffic until the Secret Service advises. With airspace as congested and complex as NYC, I don't see how it would be feasible to make a TFR that is more than a few miles wide and a few thousand feet above the ground.

He wanted to win because he wants to win everything to prove to everyone (and probably, really himself) how great he is. But now that he's won, he's stuck with a very difficult, demanding job that he has no idea how to do - so he'll dump the actual work on Pence and his other minions, and go back to his trashy fake gold apartment and do real estate deals with foreign governments who want to suck up to him. He wants to monetize the presidency without doing the work.
